I need golf fans help

need help
I am currently employed as a caddy on the PGA Tour. I see this is a very active fourm site and would like insight from the fans. What do golf fans want, or discover, from tour caddies,or their players? What do you want to know, what are you interested in finding out, what makes the whole experience of being at a tour golf event more enjoyable for the fan, How can we as players and caddies make this a more enjoyabe experiance for all? What can players do? What can caddies do? What can the PGA Tour do?

Speed up play, I think you'll find this as # 1 feedback.

I would imagine its tough out there with all thats at stake,

but some of the guys are hurting themselves with there

indecision and inability to commit and play the shot. This

filters down to golfers everywhere, who think it will help

there game to be like them.

Please believe me when I say its not your job nor place to speed them up,

that could be job security suicide.

Just throwing this out there, but I would LOVE to hear more of the caddy and the player talking before each shot, that would be way cool. :russian_roulette:

I guess thats not really part of your job but if that could somehow happen I think viewers would learn a lot more about golf, and it would make it much more interesting.

First I have no idea why any fan would care about the speed of play on tour. Then again we have had that argument before.

Not sure what a caddy can do to make the experience more enjoyable. Honestly most of us do not even know who the regular Caddys are after Fluff and Stevie, maybe Bones. Not sure I would regognize anyone but Fluff on the street.

Now do not misunderstand I wish the Golf channel.com or PGA tour . com did caddy profiles and we could get to know you. But I am not sure you can get that done.

Being a tour caddy is tough work and the job should get more respect and more credit.

I've been to a couple events and I love it when the players and caddies are nice enough to say hello to us while they walk up on the tee. Some of the caddies have even been nice enough to offer me a bottle of water from the coolers. Ever since then I've been big fans of those players and their caddies. Keep up the good work!

definitely!

last year i caddied for my dads friend at the shell houston open pro-am and we had steve flesch as the pro in our group. I learned so much about shot making and reading greens just by listenin to the way he and his caddy talked while playing. It was a great experience I am hoping to have another chance to do it next year.

I think there is potential in that relationship for good TV. Whether any players can go with it, I don't know.

I have often wondered why caddies don't wear microphones. I might actually turn on the volume again during a tournament!

It would be interesting, because it would give insight into how the players are feeling and what they are thinking at critical times. Which is why a lot of players would not do it.

But for the fans, it would be like listening to the conversation between a QB and the coach during the two minute warning, maybe better.

A caddie is an on-course mental coach and swing trouble-shooter. Any golfer trying to learn the game or improve is going to love hearing those conversations, especially if it's during a practice session or important pratice round. I'm guessing that caddies go to the "office" just like players...they sit there and watch their player pound 200 range balls until their eyes fall out, but they have to because eventually he's gonna turn to you and say "what am I DOING TO IT?" and you better know.

A 30 minute show on the TGC, called Loopers, with segments of on-course stuff and clubhouse/driving range stuff would be pretty cool. In the moment stuff would be better, but hard to get.

One of the best ideas I've heard in a long time :russian_roulette:

Golf Channel seems to be trending farther and farther away from substance in its new shows .

Welcome to the forum, Caddyguy.

With all the discussion on GOLFWRX regarding equipment, an insight into what tour players go through to get that extra performance out of their equipment would be interesting. Also, I've always wondred what a caddy's week is like. We all know about the hard work you guys put in on the course, but what is the rest of the typical week like...Pro-Am days, down time, etc...

Perhaps you can give us some insight without names or obvious clues that might not be in your or your player's interest. A few members have played in PGA Tour events as competitors and have posted some interesting stories.

Regarding what caddies and players can do to enhance the experience of the fans on the course, I agree acknowleding the spectators at the tee box or between holes can make a world of difference. I've attended numerous events here in the US and a couple overseas, and when a player or caddy just smiles and nods to the fans, it can make a big difference to those outside the ropes. So many competitors act as if the people who pay to be there don't exist. I'm not suggesting the players/caddies should be buddy buddy with the crowd....Just a smile now and then, or a "Thanks for coming out"....

I'm sure alot of us here will be interested in your posts. Good luck on tour!
