I play at an RTJ course that was built in a prairie. There are tons of birds and other wildlife all over the place.

 

Last year I was attacked by a Redwing Blackbird- and I mean ATTACKED!. Apparently they're very territorial and I must have gone near his nest or something. I ended up having to take a penalty because he wouldn't let me get anywhere near my ball.

 

After talking to some of the other members, I found that I wasn't the only one this jerk bird harassed! Pretty much anyone who missed the 8th green to the right had an encounter with the bastxxx! :)

 

You know that if you can't get to your ball because of wildlife, you can take a free drop...

 

 

And I understand about the territorial birds, I have run into situations like that before. :clapping:

Thanks, I was aware of that- the guys in the club house told me. I wasn't sure where my ball was though anyway.

I was playing Pinehurst #2 with my dad and some of my friends about 15 years ago. On one of the holes on the back nine (I think, may have been 14), my dad, who is left handed, tees off and its a low liner going dead left. It hits one of the metal poles to the water/bathroom house about 80 yards down and the ball ricochets off the pole and comes flying back straight at us. We all duck and the ball ends up in the trees behind the tee. We couldnt stop laughing for the entire round.

I have two stories...

 

My brother used to work at a golf shop with an older gentleman named Bob. One day we were out playing with Bob and he hit his tee shot on a par 3 into a water hazard and decides to tee up another one. He then hits a low screamer right that bounces off a portable toilet and finds it way into the hole for a par! From that day forward he was known as second shot Bob

 

A couple of years ago I was playing with some of my dad's co-workers in 2 foursomes (we were in the first group). We were sitting in our carts behind the green (waiting for the next tee to clear) so we are watching the guys behind us hit approaches into the green. One of the guys in the group nukes a 7 iron that flies the green and heads right for our cart. We bail out at the last second and the ball obliterates the FWD/REV switch on the dashboard of the cart and renders it useless! We took his cart and made him walk the last 4 holes.

Playing Eisenhower Silver Course...me and three other kids hit our tee shots on number nine (huge dogleg right)...last kid that hits is so excited he clears the trees that he takes off running from the teebox...ends up hitting it face first into goose poop...he tripped over a cart sign appearantly...we all just ended up laughing at this kid...till he made par of course...

Several years ago, we were playing and had to wait to tee off on the 13th hole. While we are waiting, the cart girl, a very attractive young lady, pulls up and one of our guys, Denny, a flight attendant for American Airlines at the time, a very outgoing, always with a smile kind of guy, starts chatting her up. The wait was fairly lengthy and after we finally tee off, we are standing in the middle of the fairway now waiting to hit our 2nd shots into the par 4 and Denny is driving around in circles and finally asked us if any of us knew where his drive went. At that point, we had to tell him he never teed off! He was so into making time with the cart girl that not only did he not tee off, he didn't remember the fact that he hadn't.
