Rac TP, MP 60 or CG2

what to get
Im after a new set and can get a RAC TP set for nexto nothing. Now i like the look of them and the feel ok but i feel like i hit the ball sky high with them.

Have you guys played with or hit the RAC TP and similar irons and have some tips on what is best suited if i want to keep the ball down a little. Im after a nice soft feeling club ( going from LT2s ) so i guess forged is the only way to go.

Im turning teaching pr next year so a forged iron shouldnt be a problem.

Hey Frank, welcome to the club!

As a mizuno mp30 player for the last couple of years I must go for the mp60! This is the best feeling semi-blade club around and definitely a winner! These clubs are not noteworthy easier to hit or more forgiving than the mp30.

I like the easy hitting TP's as well but the stock S300 shaft in this set feels softer than in my mp30's.

I absolutely don't like the CG2, don't like the balans, don't like the weight, don't like the feel. I do like the look but if you can't hit them....

If you want a lower ball flight you have a few options:

-Get a stiffer shaft.

-Get a blade instead of a semi-blade

-Shorten you back- and throughswing, or lower your tempo and lose a little bit of distance.

Mp 60 with reg shaffts, i seriously think people use iron shafts way to stiff, i lose so much distance with stiff in my blades, with my combos with reg shafts, its a good 10 yards longer. both are bridgestone.

bridgestone combos are some sick irons, so are the mp 32 and mp 60, those are my favorite on the market, consider those. go out and hit them see what you like.

Ive been having a play about with different shafts and flexes in the TP and the mp 60 today. I must admit i seem to hit the ball considerably further and lower with the 60s.

The shaft allso makes a huge difference. Once again the DG shaft going a lot further than the Rifles which ive been using the last few years !!

As the other guys say - go check out the Mizuno Mp-60's - they're awesome and probably the best forged cavity back playa' iron ever made. You might also want to check out the Miura Cb-201 (a succesor called Miura cb-301 is being released in march) and the upcoming Bridgestone j33 cb, but the J33 cb wont' be in the stores before april.

If you are looking for a forged blade, I would suggest Mizuno. I play the MP-33's and really like the clean look. The 32's and 60's are nice too, just haven't tried them. I have a set of 690.mb's as my back up--played them for a little over a year before changing to the 33's. Liked the 690's, but felt a little firmer to me. The 33's are really soft, easy to work the ball and suprisingly forgiving for a blade. Plus the look is PURE! But.... I recommend you try several different sets and go with the one that best suits your eye and needs. We are all different in what works and what looks good. JMO

Thanks for the advice. Ive been trying out a lot of different irons over the last week and ive come to the decision to get the 60s. I love the RAC TPs but they just fly too high and i love the titleist too but they will cost me 300 euros more than mizuno.

I think its a great looking and feeling iron and i seemed to hit the ball lower than with the TPs. I havnt had a chance to hit the bridgestones as i cant find them anywhere here. But im sure mizuno is a worthy choice :birthday:
