Authenticity in Auctions - How to tell?

BeCu PINGs

I watch eBay auctions for BeCu PINGS. For irons, you can tell if the club is BeCu, BeNi or SS, but for putters I find it much harder to tell. Check out eBay Link and see what you think.

Most of the pictures have a reddish tint, which would indicate copper to me, but one of them has a more golden color that looks like Manganese Bronze. Some of the BeCu versions have "BeCu" on the face of the putter.

Is the white PINGman on the face an indicator of BeCu? I just do not want to purchase a putter thinking it is BeCu only to find out it is Bronze - even if I can return it I am out something to do so.

I have a BeCu Anser 4 which looks identical to that in every way except mine is much darker in color through usage. The first pic shows the copper color very well, the others do look slightly different but that may be due to the lighting conditions.

I am not sure whether the white Pingman is an indication of BeCu, I don't think so. The seller has good feedback, probably a good deal!

Be careful with this one as sometimes sellers don't even know. I won a "BeCu" putter off ebay a while back where the seller followed up with "It might be MgBz but the kid at second swing said BeCu." It's pretty easy to ID in real life, even if the putter is extremely tarnished. One thing I have noticed (aside from paintfill, but that can be changed/manipulated) is that BeCu's are never sound-slotted. The seller I "worked" with was a bit of a tool, and it took some doing, but I got everything back including shipping on my return. Good luck.

Looks athentic to me. Plus the seller has great rating, should be no problem. All the BeCu Ansers I've seen don't have any marking to indicate BeCu; The Pal series & B60 have BeCu markings. Some of the pics make it look a little questionable, but I agree with GolfWolf, that it is probaly just the lighting conditions. Really clean, lightly used putter...looks like a good deal to me. Most BeCu's I've seen are selling for $100+. Good Luck!!
