Is it me or does TaylorMade have the worst grips and shafts ever. Horrible in fact. Anybody agree???

you can't get the stock grips/shafts; I totally agree with you in that the stock ones are absolute $hit, but you can always order custom ones... they actually have a pretty extensive line of custom options... check out their website and you should be able to check it out there...

i've always got steel shafts in my taylormade clubs (v-steel and rescue dual tp) and they were dynamic gold, so i've got no problems with the shafts. the grips aren't great, but they aren't bad. i'm in the process of regripping all my clubs with golf pride multi compound decade.

TaylorMade has the worst components on the planet, but the heads are awesome. Now I'm gonna have to get an Aldila NV 65 .350 Tip Wood stiff shaft and a dadgum Golf Pride grip for it, I should have bought a new club for the components I'm buying. I guess I'll use it until I can't anymore. By the way I'm talking about my new V-steel fairway wood, which I got used.

Well TM retail line of shafts and grips suck but thats why they have the tp line :-) for the player who wants a quality setup of head and shaft. I know its a little expensive but you get what you pay for. Now on the v steel id have to agree and think they shouldve offered a tp lineup for that fairway wood bc i love my tour issue v steel and wouldve bought another as a backup if they came out with it in TP line. but the new r7 tp feels very similar so i guess its really about what you like. The thing that really is annoying is that they use a .350 tip which means you cant use a pullout from the tp line in any of their regular ones or id be playing a 15* v steel with a tp speeder. Instead im gonna be playin a 904f 15* with a fuji pro 95. if they made their retail in .335 itd be so much better imo.

agree that the stock grips suck, but i think the stock shafts are underrated. I'm using the stock steel shaft in my V-Steel and rac LT and the stock R5 shaft without any problems - good results.

no dude, i'm speaking solely on the stock graphite shafts, in the fairway and driver. the steel shafts are fine.

How does the stock R5 shaft feel? I am thinking about getting an R5 Dual D with stock MAS 55 shaft. I am trying out smaller head size on drivers due to my slicing issue.

Should I get a Regular or Stiff stock shaft? SS in the low 90's. Thanks.

When I worked in the industry we constantly bugged the TM guys about this. We were told by them that the average stock TM shaft was worth less than $8. I agree that they are terrible and I don't think that I would ever play stock TM stuff. I think that even mid and some high hdcpers would be able to notice the difference to an upgraded set-up.

I have this MAS shaft in 55S and I hit it great! I love the ball flight from my new R7 TypeD REAX shafts in 55S. The only thing I am thinking of is to get 65G shafts for a little more consistancy in my swing, so if I change prolly go with some sort of Fujikura shaft as I know there are a bunch. I think low 90's with driver is still stiff in TM stock shafts as they launch quite well. I would say 80-90mph with driver would be Regular. Hope this helps

I agree taylormade's stock grips and shafts suck, I practice alot and I had my grip on my 58 wedge slick after 2 and a half weeks of play and practice. the stock graphite shafts in the r5 series play very weak.

I agree, that the shafts are junk. They are barely good enough to be used as umbrella shafts. I have been a loyal TM supporter since I started playing competitive golf almost 19 years ago. Back then, the Tour Gold was a great shaft, but now the stock ones suck. I will admit that I at fault for my current issues, because I bought a Dick's Sporting Goods $150 special. I currently swing an R580XD in 9.5* with an Orange Hyperlite that says it is made by Fujikura. This thing is very inconsistant for my swing. I am now thinking about putting in an upgraded shaft. I just need to find out what is good for me.
