How to get a tee time at Bethpage BLACK?

I would like to play Bethpage Black this summer. How do you secure a tee time? Are there other courses there to play as well?

From what I remember from reading "Open" you need to spend the night and get in line and get a tee time for the course. I'm sure someone on here has actually done it, but I remember when the Open was there they had a piece on the guys camped out in their cars all night and ordering pizza to geta tee time. I hear the other courses are just as nice and I believe there was a thread on here talking about Bethpage and its courses.

I remember the same piece on getting a tee time and the intimidating sign off #1 tee. My suggestion would be to call their pro shop and ask them the best way to get a time.

The best way to get a tee time on the Black is to know someone who lives on Long Island. If you live there you can call up to a week in advance to get a time, you have to call right when the tee times open up though to get one, and the person who made the time has to play with you. It is all automated and the times go like lighting. I had some friends who I played with there right after the open and it is definitely one of the hardest courses I have ever played. Play it from the tips for fun if you can.

I played The Black a few years back with a friend who lives about 15min away from the course. He called ahead on the automated tee time reservation line. He said that he needed to submit his valid NY drivers license number in order to reserve a time. I'm not sure if this is still the case. But if you can't do that, then I think you need to bring a sleeping bag!

Oh, and bring you A game...especially from the tips (the sign is intimidating as hell too).

If you're a single just show up on a weekday around 5:30 AM and you'll get out. Out of staters can also reserve a time 2 days in advance on the phone (good luck :) )
