Srixon Z-URS

The all New Srixon Z-URS shares the same technology platform as the revolutionary, tour proven Z-UR; the thinnest urethane-elastomer cover in the world – an astounding .020” thin, PBDS enhanced core, high velocity ionomer boundary layer, 330 based high trajectory aerodynamics. However, the engineers at Srixon have found a way to lower the core compression of the tour winning Z-UR by more than 10%, without sacrificing any of its performance features. The result is the new Z-URS. The lower overall compression provides a soft responsive feel and sound some players prefer, without sacrificing the explosive distance and short game playability you’ve come to expect from a multilayer tour performance ball.

Now there’s a choice. Players wanting the ultimate in tour winning performance in a softer feel can choose the new Z-URS. Those wanting a more solid feel can choose Z-UR. Choose either one and know that you’re in great company. Srixon staff players around the world are playing with and winning with both balls. What’s your choice?

* 3 Piece Construction

* Urethane Elastomer Cover

* Incredibly thin and soft cover surrounding our softest PBDS enhanced core

* Newly developed 330 dimple pattern provides high trajectory with strong penetrating ball flight

Its kind of funny how I got this ball. Went into the local golf store to blook around and get some Pro V1's.

Well Saw a sign that said if you buy a box of Srixon Z-URS you get a free Srixon T-shirt. Well I liked the shirts so I bought the balls matter of fact I bought two Dozen.

WOW is all I have to say. I get good distance a little more than the ProV1 and it stops on a dime! I have found my new ball for 06. Srixon got it right on this one. Pick up at least a sleeve and try them out you will not be disapointed.

Great Ball!! Longer than the ProV1, but not as much spin. I found that the ProV1 spins a little too much for my liking, but the Z-URs is perfect. Another reason I am useing it, I shot my first par round and my first under par round with Srixon golf balls.

The Srixon Z-URs will be my ball of choice in 2006.

I got a box of standard Z-UR's as a gift and after playing one sleeve I traded away the other three. (Read my review in the Z-UR forum)

However, I tried a sleeve of Z-URS's and thought they were amazing. They feel firmer than ProV1 but softer than HX Tour (my rocks of choice). Distance was probably as good as HX Tour but softer feel around the greens was awesome. I know this will sound like I'm saying that if your taste falls between two apples try an orange, but if you are an HX person but feel, as I do, that the HX Tour is a bit too firm, but Tour 56 is too soft, than the Z-URS may be the ball for you.

Feel: bridges the gap between firm and soft, firmer than ProV1/HX Tour 56, softer than ProV1x/HX Tour.

Distance: comparable to ProV1

Durability: as good as any other ball in this category (though it still shredded like a champ after a full shot with my SM58)

Conclusion: If I were to switch from HX Tour, this would be my ball of choice, but for now I'm sticking to comfort food.

This will be my ball of choice for 2007. I will be stocking up on these and the AD-333 balls this winter while the price is down. Do yourself a favor and give these balls a try. Fire In the Hole!!!!!!

Update:

The New 2007 Srixon ZUR-S is better than ever. It spins more and the cover holds up better than ever which was never a problem for me anyway.

I have been searching for YEARS for the right ball. I played Maxfli for 15+ years and when the went to the Black Max, they lost me. I skin the Pro V1 too much, and the X doesn't spin as much as I like. Callaway don't spin enough on long chips, Taylormade are too hard, Nike are don't spin enough on short chips, etc. The new Z-URS spin like a sumbeaoch around the greens and don't skin that bad. HALLELUJAH, I finally found the Z-URS!!!!

I was a bit disappointed with driver distance in the new 2007 ZUR-S compared to the old ZUR-S. The new one spins a bit more and that cost me about 10-15 yards off the tee compared to the old model.

Other than that, the ball is great, but I switched back to the ProV1x which is longer for me.

Just did a golf ball fitting at Golf Galaxy (using the Golfworks Proprietary system). My swing speed was 113 mph on average (I was surprised, but not too surprised) and it gave me choices as to which I was more interested in Distance or Accuracy. I could weight it based on percentage. My choices basically came down to Nike One Platinum (2nd most accurate amongst all ball types) and Srixon ZUR-s. I normally play the Pro V1x and it showed that I was able to get more distance with the ZUR-S while keeping the greenside playing ability of the Platinum. I was very concerned about the spin on my 9i-lw shots coming into the green and the ZUR-S has about 200 less RPM off the driver which will translate to lower RPMs on my approach shots.

This ball has been simply amazing for me. I am not a salesman for Golfworks or Golf Galaxy, but I highly recommend this ball fitting for everyone that wants to play the best ball for them...no matter the brand.

Have played the ProV for some years now. That is, up until this year. Have always enjoyed trying out different balls but would go back to the ProV. I was looking for a ball that would spin less, especially on chips. I like the ball to stop and release straight. The ProV's soft cover was always too jumpy on chips and wedges for me. Tried the previous Srixon balls, but always found the covers to go very quick. But with the new 2007 Srixon z-urs I have finally converted. After playing this ball for most of 07 I find it to be a very reliable ball. The cover is just as good if not better than Titleist. It's slightly firmer which I like when I'm putting. The ball flies straighter off the tee. Especially in the wind. I was always a good chipper but am better now with this ball. I know what it is going to do. I sank more chips this year than in all the years with the ProV1. The ball also flies just as far.

The one negative, and its minor is that after using the same ball for some time. The durability is still great however you can see the line around the ball where it was fused in manufacturing. This is probably due to the fact that it has a very thin cover. It still performs the same however.

I played the ZUR-S most of last season with the 2006 version. I didn't feel like I was getting the driver distance I should with the ZUR-S. I have been trying different balls Titliest PROV-1, TaylorMade TP Black (07) version, Bridgestone 330 & 330S (I played these in 2006), Callaway HX Tour and the Wilson TW4. With all the balls I have tried I keep going back to the ZUR-S. I seem to have more confidence with the ZUR-S, for instance I try 9 holes with one ball & then switch to the ZUR-S. The 9 holes with the ZUR-S is at least 5 to 6 strokes better than any other ball (it didn't matter which 9 I used the ZUR-S, first or second). Maybe it's mental but I get much better control with the ZUR-S from driver to lob wedge than any other ball.

My only complaint with the ZUR-S is the durability. It isn't as long as the TP Black or BS 330 off the driver and it doesn't spin as much as the BS 330S or PROV-1 off the irons but the ZUR-S does what I want when I want and I guess that's all that matters. The Experiment is over, now I need to find a good sale on the ZUR-S balls.

How did you get the free goods from Srixon?

I believe it was thru the Srixon trueplayers site, but they didn't tell me they were sending anything. It was quite a surprise.

I love these balls so far. I recently started putting premium balls in play and like these better than Callaway Tour ix and Nike One Platinums. I seem to get very little sidespin off the driver with the Z-URS, so consistently they go straighter and farther, and the feel around the greens and off the putter is awesome. These balls check up on the greens much better, they come to a screeching halt off of my irons and spin back a few feet off full iron shots. They are very durable and easy to positively identify (since I'm the only one on the course using them :russian_roulette: The Nikes would be beat up after 9 holes, but these look great after a couple of rounds!

I believe that I may have converted. Great ball all the way around. The response of the ball to iron shots and green side pitches are what's really selling me right now. I do feel that there is less side spin than the Pro V1 off the driver. It's a tad, harder off the putter than the pro v, but it feels and putts great, and it spins very nicely and in a predictable manner. The iron trajectory reminds me a little of the b330s in that the ball tends to be more mid trajectory, which is a good thing for me. The ball is durable as well. This ball seemed to be more bitey like on the green for me than the b330s. I love it

Meh.

The ball performs OK. Kinda hard-shell feeling for me. Not clicky, but the cover feels plasticky hard, and not urethane soft like the other ones.

Also - SEAM. The seam is obvious and is definitely a place for cracking. My last 4 balls cracked at the seam, and it didn't take much to crack them there.

The silver boxes were the first version of the ball. The white boxes are the newer version.
