Things I noticed.

In part three. What was Sabbatini using as irons and why isn't he using Pro Golds like he has been? Also is that an adams shaft in his driver. Obviously not but what king of shaft is that? It says adams.

When did Luke switch to that sabertooth thing. Maybe a while back I just haven't paid enough attention.

909s look cool. I just want to see it at address!

rory sabbatini is using the new adams a4 prototype irons and I do not think he was ever using the pro golds. He tested the a4's and the pro golds and went with the a4's. Very similar to the nike ignite irons and pro combo os irons he use to use but forged and adams. The shaft he is using in his 9015-D driver is the Harrison Saga shaft. It also looks like he might have a new xtd fairway with a weight port in it?!!!!!

Some of the best pics I've seen! Thanks for sharing guys.

Is that an 11 wood in Vijay's bag? Picture series # 5

Vijay's used a Callaway Steelhead 9 wood bent about 4* open for a while now (I believe you can see it somewhere in that pic) but it's the slot in his bag that he's always messing with. I'm not sure what it is but I believe that 11 wood was bought in a bargain bin somewhere last year for about $20.

I like Rory's new irons... Oh wait, he's not with Nike anymore is he :clapping:

Is the new Rapture being debuted as well as the 909??? Thought I saw a G10 color scheme headcover with "Rapture" embroidered down the side but also saw a unique black and white "molded" PING headcover.

quick comments before I go again.

Course : looks great ! Fairways are tight and when you walk on them they feel bouncy, ball really rolls. Greens look tough, but not US open tough ..yet.

It's very humid out (70%) so I'm sure that is helping to slow them down. Rough is not that bad, especially the secondary cut. Primary is lush, but I have seen worse.

Crowds : pretty busy for a monday, it's getting harder and harder to take pictures. The USGA/Torrey Pines is making a killing off merc. sales.. OMG it's expensive.

Players: Biggest fans were with Bubba.. Tiger disappeared from that group and I missed him. Rumor was he left for the day. Jimenez group had the second largest gallery and alot of press too.

These guys are good, but I am amazed at how small they seem. Weir, Donald, Imada, Romero, etc etc.. slim guys.

that's all for now... I've been walking for 3 straight days... SeaWorld, Disneyland, US Open.. I'm beyond tired.

Woods : Callaway Razr TA, Titleist F3-05
Hybrid : Adams LSP XTD
Irons : Fourteen TC910 3&4I, Nike VRProCombo 5-PW
Wedges : Fourteen RM-11 54/60
Putter : Nike Method 003 Oven

Johnny- great pics snapper! can you get some real wide shots to give us some perspective... you have a 10-22mm or 16mm or something like that right? :clapping: Keep it up!!

Oh yeah- the 909...almost looks like a Titleist I could own again...no funny bore-thru insert...except for the everlasting 'great wall of china' looking alignment mark, I mean does any driver really need that?

I think that black and white molded headcover is just the Ping Contour series, but it's hard to tell.

what in the world is that giant iron? swing trainer of some sort i'm guessing. looks like its made by fisher price

someone, please elaborate on this...

I beleive its just a device to help a player warm up. I've seen them before on the range at Golf Club of Scottsdale. It basically uses the wind to create resistance while you swing. Along the same lines as a weighted club....

First off I know, useless w/o pictures, but I'll go on anyway. I went to the practice round yesterday (Monday) and thought I would share a little about it. Hopefully, others who have gone this week can chime in w/ what they saw.

First, Titleist has their new driver out. It said 909 D3 on the headcover. It looked all black on top and reminded me of the 07 TM Burner on the bottom, except that it was all black and silver or chrome. There is also a little weight in the back middle of it. The Titleist reps seemed to have a bunch of them and were giving them to all their staffers. We sat in the stands and watched Steve Stricker hit one for a while. He didn't hit the first one very well and they gave him a different one which he seemed to hit very well. Didn't look like anything revolutionary to me. Just a newer, updated Titleist driver. But, then again, I didn't hit it or anything, just saw it when SS was hitting it and then when the reps were walking around I saw a bunch of them in their hands. I also saw a guy walk by w/ a GIANT armful of the new pearl white Matrix shafts. The TM reps had a lot of the Tour Burner FW's and hybrids out.

The course was in great shape. The greens and FW's were absolutely wonderful, they looked like carpet. The greens didn't really seem to be all that quick either. I could be wrong, but none of the players we saw seemed to have any trouble holding the greens. We watched Luke Donald and some toher guys tee off on 16 which is a 225 yard par 3 and they all hit hybrids and the balls all pretty much stopped close to where they landed.

The rough on the other hand, was nuts. The first 4 or 5 yeards off of the FW were pretty normal. The players didn't seem to have too much trouble out of that. But after that it got pretty bad. By the time you got back to where the ropes are, maybe 12-15 yards off the FW, the grass was a good 2 inches or more OVER my shoes. Crazy.

That is all I can really think of right now of any interest. We got there right as Tiger was walking up to the 9th green. He putted there for about 5 minutes and then walked off the abck of the 10th tee. That was kind of a bummer, but oh well. Never saw Phil. They had these boards up w/ the tee times and when we left at about 1pm, his name wasn't even on the board yet. There also seemed to be alot of no name guys there, no offense to anybody. Just not guys who I knew. I guess they were local qualifiers and what not.

All in all a fun day. We got a few autographs. Furyk signed some although he didn't look particularly happy. VJ gave us a dirty look, Reteif had about 10 kids run after him to ask and he acted like he didn't see them. I also asked Fluff but he said he was busy. Strange, since his player had been done for an hour. Oh well. The 2 coolest guys were Bob Vokey and Jerry Kelly. BV was walking by and I asked him for an autograph. He looked up and said, who me? I said ya. He said you meust be really hard up. Then I felt stupid and thought, this is just some eqpt rep or something. I said you're Bob Vokey, right? He said ya and signed my flag. We talked for a second and he was super cool. He showed me 2 wedges he had in his hands that he said he just made for Mike Weir.

Then when we were leaving I saw Jerry Kelly. He was walking by himself so I thought he wasn't playing. Turns out he was and he was just way ahead of his group. So I aksed him if he could sign my flag and he said no, I can't during a hole. He turned to walk away and then turned back and said, Ahh, "!#*@" it. Who cares. Then he signed for my brother and I. Super cool guy.

Do you have to be someone special to have a camera there this week? Or is it like other PGA Tour events where you can bring them through Wednesday, but after that they are banned? Does anyone know because Im going up there the next couple days and would LOVE to bring my camera!

Yep, you can bring cameras through Wednesday.

The main merchandise tent is HUGE. It is like a full on sporting goods store. Insane. And they don't have a collared shirt in there for less than $85. It is freakin' robbery in there!! They took a bunch of $40 shirts, embroidered a US Open logo on them and doubled the price. Nice.

As for Tiger, like I mentioned above, he putted for a few minutes on 9, watched Bubba Watson and Jordan Cox tee off on 10 and then left out the back of the 10th tee. That was right when I got there about 8:30 or 9.
