Best driver for 100 bucks or less

Need opinions...

I'm trying to find my friend a driver and he's on a pretty tight budget. If he's wanting to spend no more than $100, what'd be some of his best options? He'd prefer it be new - and I'm thinking 10.5 degrees, regular flex. I know its tough to tell on ebay, but if you've seen a particular club usually sell for around this price, i'll look on there too. Recommendations?

You can get an Adams 430Q or Redline on Ebay for right around $100 with an upgrade shaft. I just bought a 430Q for my father for xmas and got it for $118 shipped. Best drivers for that price range.

you need to look used or clearance. you can get great deals on ignite 410 (460 is still running higher), titleist 983, taylormade 540 and 580 series, cleveland launcher, callaway big bertha. some of these you can pick up new for $100 on clearance. also, if your worried about e-bay, check the used clubs at the local golf shops. you can get some really great deals. check out www.tgw.com and www.rockbottomgolf.com. they have some great deals on clearance clubs. if your buying clearance your limited to shaft choices, but with used, you can get some great shafts.

If an R580XD can be had for 100 bucks, I'll definitely get him to go with that. If thats possible though I havent seen it anywhere....? A regular R540 or R580 wouldnt be bad either. And i have no problems with ebay - i figure this is where we'll end up finding whatever we get.

Nicklaus Airmax 440ML - I've seen these go for around $100 new on ebay recently from reputable sellers (check the feedback ratings). The Cleveland Launcher 400 cc can also be had for around $100.00 from places like Golfsmith, and for even less on Ebay. I've played both and you can't go wrong with either one, IMO the stock Fuji shaft in the Airmax plays smoother than the Fuji Launcher Gold, plus the Airmax is a little bigger so it should be a bit more forgiving. My buddy plays the Airmax and I've hit it often, this driver is as long and accurate as my Launcher Comp and I would be very content to have it in my bag.

One of the best clubs I've ever hit was the TaylorMade 360 Ti. You can get them in great shape on eBay for $60 with headcovers and then have enough left over to buy an exotic shaft (NV, V2, or YS-6).

I'll third the Mizuno, although I personally have the 460cc. I've had good experiences with Rock Bottom Golf and Proshop Warehouse on eBay. I purchased the MP-001 460 with an Aldila NVS from Proshop Warehouse for $145 including shipping. Went from about 30% fairways hit to 70% with that club.

 

I have hit the 400cc and liked it as well.

I'll third your second suggest............Very underrated driver the Nicklaus Multiface 440 with Fuji Vista Pro type lightweight shaft. This driver can be had on ebay for $100

I picked up a Big Bertha 454 for @ 100 bucks on ebay...ebay is probably the best place to look. Also look into Dunlop Loco Drivers. They go for $100 new or cheaper off ebay. Plus they are pretty forgiving and long off the tee.

Don't give up on the TM R580XD. I picked one up on ebay with the Mitsubishi Rayon Hank K. shaft for 111.00. You can find them with the stock shaft for less.

Taylormade r580. In my opinion the r5 hundred series were the best drivers Taylormade produced

Adams Redline or Redline RPM drivers go for under 100 bucks brand new, you cannot go wrong with this driver, very forgiving and as long as any driver made.

Another vote for the Mizuno MP-001 .. 4 thumbs up. I originally used a Taylormade 580XD with stock stiff shaft. Based on face tape impact patterns, I found most shots were on the inside crown. Instead of concentrating all the weight symmetrically through the clubhead, it is more heel-balanced. I think that this driver is very underrated.

 

How well does it play? Like a rocket. Very straight. I had to get used to the smaller face compared to the TM. Getting the proper rhythm when teeing the ball higher produced ideal launches. Once you get solid contact, the ball can be worked right and left, with enough forgiveness to avoid duck hooks and banana slices.

 

The price .. $100 bux is a steal.
