What to expect
What will the main difference be in feel and trajectory be.

Anyone make the switch to TC from PX ?

TC's are softer in the tip and play much softer than PX. Stable but pretty kicky and very accurate. I consider TC to be in a different class than PX.....with much better quality and consistency in manufacture.

I've nver hit the TC's or the regular PX shafts, but you might want to look at the PX High-Launch shafts. They have a softer tip section than the PX and might be a closer match to the TC's. Just a thought...

I've played them both. I don't really agree that they are in different classes. They are different, but they are both quality shafts with tight dispersion.

The TCs are smooth and lively. They have nice feel through impact and generate a good ball flight. Actually, that's an understatement. They are the smoothest steel shafts I've ever hit. A wonderfully pleasant feel is the only way I could describe it. The short irons were similar to DG trajectory for me. As the irons got longer, the flight started to get higher then DG. Pretty consistent with what was advertised. The only issue, they are susceptible to ballooning just like DGs. I felt like they might be even more susceptible in the long irons.

Project Xs are very different. They are not as lively for me, almost dead or muted feeling in comparison. They start the ball much higher initially BUT even though they fly high, they don't tend to get as messed up by the wind. It's a really high boring trajectory. After playing DG for a long time, when I first was hitting Px's I kept thinking I ballooned everything (because shots were launching so high compared to what I was used to). I found that with Project X flex is SO important. I was playing 6.0 and I hated the shaft. I then started playing a 5.5 flex and the difference was incredible, I actually liked (maybe loved) them.

End of the day, they are both high quality shafts that bring their own pros and cons. For me, the Project X (once the flex was correct) offered more advantages. I don't need the help getting long irons up and Project X's were just so good against the wind. I wish they had more feel but I guess I can't have it all (yet).

Hope that helps a little.

Yes...I would have to relent and agree with you. I let my bias as a builder color my comments. Performance-wise the PX is faultless if the shaft fits your swing. But as you say the flex is really critical in allowing these shafts to perform. However, seeing as Rifle has a reputation for frequency QC and matching, the horrid numbers I get from PX very much put me off the shaft. Tour Concepts have been consistent, even when ordering singles. The TC's are also much easier to fit with predictable consistent results. Perhaps the PX2's are better.....no experience with those yet.

Appreciate your insight.

TC's feel alittle soft to flex.

PX....my swing is 100% ill matched to this shaft so I would say a full flex but concensus is about 1/2 flex.

I feel the Accra Tour Steel offer some of the PX personality but in a much more friendly package. The PX is constant taper while the Accra is stepped but patterned to be close to constant taper so the geometry has a little in common...... which does translate into playing.
