Surgery has forced me to take them

Surgery may be the best thing that has happened to my game. I have had to have two abdominal laproscopic procedures since Thanksgiving, with the last one being two weeks ago. Given that I picked up my new clubs (PING i5s and CG10 wedges... Hang tough ZDan. We know the truth.) two days before the first operation, what I thought would be a travesty has actually turned out well. Since I am able to practice putting and chipping, I took a couple of lessons from my pro in these areas.

Best thing I have done in a while. I think the main reason is that I am on orders from my doctor not to hit full swings yet. So I HAVE to practice chipping and putting if I want to practice. Hopefully this will translate to good things when I am able to get out there again. In the mean time it is back to the practice green tomorrow.

The short game is the key to lowering your scores. Consider it a blessing to 'have' to work on it :) Watch your scores drop, as you recover and can swing fully again. Take care

I have always been a believer in a solid short game. The quickest way to save strokes and lower one's handicap is via the "short game". If everyone spent as much time on the short game, ie chipping, pitching, bunker shots & putting as they did on hitting the long ball...we would all be single digit hdcps! As you mentioned, this may be a blessing in disguise. Good luck to you, my friend and wishes for a speedy recovery.

I know exactly what its like to only practice short game for a while. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and have transformed my house into a shortgame practice facility for the long, cold winter months (currently -45 F). I have a large basement (about 40X50), and have installed a simulated green on it. Unfortunately my ceiling is to low to practice a full swing so practice is limited to allot of putting and chipping drills. I play out of state alot during the winter and just hit scratch last summer. I feel that it is a direct result of my indoor short game practice.

I have it, and read most of it. But, you are right I should break it out again. I will go do that now. Thanks.
