Remove, Stop and Prevent Rust

A friend of mines found an old gun blued Newport he purchased years ago. The putter was beat up and rusting pretty badly. He decided to get a scotch brite pad and scrub off the rust which worked but removed any blueing that was still on the putter. He noticed that no matter what he put on the putter, it would be rusting within days. He was showed this new product and tried it on his putter. He told me that he's put it on once and the putters has stopped rusting. It's still a pretty beat up looking thing, but it's working for him.

The product is called Corrosion Block. I did a little research on it and found out that it's the US Military's corrosion control product of choice. It works by penetrating deep to the root of the problem, destroying existing corrosion and creating a protective barrier. The moisture is displaced to the top, where it evaporates off the protective barrier. . It also does all this without leaving the usual slippery slick that other products like WD-40 and Silicone does.

I recently tried it on one of my wedges that had a little grinding done to it. So far without adding any more coatings, three rounds and no rust. Usually after one round and the clubs sitting for a week, I find the rust building on the wedge. I also sprayed it on one of my TP Mills workshop putters with no ill effects to the finish of the putter. Lastly I sprayed it on a raw Nike Wedge I had attempted to clean up. I had sprayed the head with Silicone and even with no play the wedge was still rusting in the bag. Since I coated it with Corrosion Block, it's looking the same as when I first cleaned it up. I'm really amazed with this stuff and will be using it on all my raw, blued stuff. I know, some guys like the raw wedges getting rusty, but I don't. I'm pretty anal with keeping things looking like new.

Here's a picture of a can of Corrosion Block. I found it at local fishing store since they use it on a lot of marine and fishing equipment and I have also seen it at some local hardware stores. If you want to stop rust, try this stuff out.

Here's a link to some information on Corrosion Block. When I put it on my Nike Wedge, it definitely appeared to have removed some of the surface rust....nothing like naval jelly though.
