Although there were rumors that it was the Stones not enough people acted quick enough and I was able to get 5 tickets for $100. Third row middle. Could have taken 3 steps and shook hands with any of them. That night I was certain that it was the Rolling Stones but I have seen other concerts at large venues that I thought it might be body doubles because they were so far away and the sound was so bad. Let us know how it goes for you. How much are the tickets selling for?

I understand..Hope it's a good concert.

Definitely Aguila...I can't think of anywhere else in all honesty. Any course that's good will be over $100 for non residents...maybe GCU will be around $100? Cave Creek would be under $100 but I wouldn't say it's a great course....greens are nutty and a couple of awkward holes but I like it because it is so q

I always seem to be able to find Hot deals and last minute rates and stuff like that to keep it around $80 or so at places like Legacy, etc. during the winter, but no way to book a trip in advance under $100/round in the winter.

Coming back to the PHX area for a best friend's bachelor "trip" (I call it that because he's a huge golfer and I'm the only one who would splurge to go). Coming in 11/6 at 830am and leaving Saturday evening 11/9....we have Quintero lined up for 1215pm. Wanting to play Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning. I'm thinking I'd take him to Quintero, Troon, SunRidgeCanyon and We-Ko-Pa. That said,

If this is happening at We-Ko-Pa :

Cholla Closed

October 7 – October 24, 2019

Reopens October 25, 2019

Saguaro Closed

October 14 – October 31, 2019

Reopens November 1, 2019

Would we be ok to play early Nov?

You're not OK playing anywhere in November, will be CPO and shaggy conditions everywhere. All you can do is find the courses that are the longest out of overseed and hope for the best.

Mostly Yes - plus the courses seem to think it is fair to raise the rates once or twice during this time as well - so you get it double up the wazoo! Considering you were willing to travel, you may want to look at playing golf up in Prescott and/or Sedona. They will be in very good shape (no OS). And play a course the longest out of OS here in the valley as DS mentioned.

Unfortunately you have picked a terrible time to play golf in phoenix...stuff is reopened and generally green. That is the only thing that can be said positive about it. They will have jacked the rates. The rounds will be long due to cart path only and the courses will play squishy and shaggy. There are very few exceptions to this. You would have better luck heading up north to play during over seed here. PRescott, sedona, Pinetop and Flagstaff (if you can get on the privates) are a much better option as long as it hasn't gotten to cold up there by the time you arrive, much better likelihood in early ocotober than early november.

If the primary purpose of the trip is to golf for his bachelor party I would pick a different destination if I had to do it that week.

OH WOW. That is really bad news. We are going here because I've been a handful of times and sent vids of Troon, Greyhawk etc.....he's wanted to play at them so bad. I went to Troon in Aug and it was in great shape for summer. We can't change destinations now with some of our travel. Will Troon and high end places be AWFUL?

Troon North doesn’t overseed their greens at least. Any place that has bent doesn’t need to. That helps a lot but you’ll still be faced with thin fairways and CPO. Play the courses that have been out of overseeing tasing the longest. Worst month to play golf in PHX = October, second worst = November.

Thanks for the heads up. Based on that advice, any suggestions to these with the seeding/closure schedule shown below: ?

Troon North Golf Club Monument September 15, 2019 October 3, 2019

Troon North Golf Club Pinnacle October 6, 2019 October 24, 2019

Quintero September 23, 2019 October 19, 2019

SunRidge Canyon Golf Club Currently closed OPEN: October 1, 2019

Boulders South Course September 17, 2019 October 7, 2019

Was thinking those would be our tracks. He's from ST LOUIS, MO as well and wants to play desert golf while seeing some cool sights. Of the ones I've played, these stood out. Yet to play Boulders or Quintero. I know we're not gonna see March type conditions....but anyone play these in Nov historically? Or suggested ones that'll be good in Nov? Again, sorry to bug.....I appreciate the help. CHeers.

Just got back from Scottsdale and wanted to say thanks to everyone who provided info to plan this trip. Really was amazing - we had joked around upon arriving at Sky Harbor to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes - and never saw one - but about crapped our pants at the wildlife we DID see.

Quintero is remarkable. Excellent conditions, fun layout and fast greens. The collection of Par 3 holes is as good as it gets. Lunch and service were fantastic. Literally the only complaint about the place is the half-mile drive from the pro shop to the rang/1st tee - and that a Bobcat was lurking around in the bushes 30 or so yards behind one of the tee boxes. Luckily it had no interest in us.

Wickenburg Ranch was a phenomenal facility. Service was excellent, and thanks to @Rohlio we scored some Travis Mathew swag. We really enjoyed the layout, and the greens were fast and true - but the fairways were *just* a bit thin in spots after a recent punching.

I get the praise around here for We-Ko-Pa Saguaro. We probably enjoyed this course the most of the group from a layout perspective, but you could tell they were still bouncing back from some rough patches as reported here. Completely playable, but the greens were still shaggy and a smidge bouncy. We're walking to the green on the Par 3 fifth hole, and one of the guys near the front of the green starts saying, "NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!" and walking backwards up the green. We had assumed he saw a rattlesnake. Something a little bigger than that - a mountain lion. We didn't believe him until we got to dinner later that night and began Googling pictures of large cats - and sure as #$%! he said it was a mountain lion.

Anyone else ever seen big cats on the courses in Arizona?

Yes, see bobcats all of the time. Mountain lions occasionally but the last one I saw was just outside my backyard fence. Javelinas, mule deer and coyotes all of the time as well. I didn’t see but we did have a bear once as well. I’ve seen pictures from when it visited in a particularly dry year. The only one that really worries me are the javelina. They get aggressive quickly. The rest will avoid humans.

Javelina have no redeeming qualities. Ugly, smelly, aggressive.

Heading up to Scottsdale middle of October - i know this is not a good time but am i better off booking courses that are about to close 3-5 days after I play them or courses that are reopening a week or 2 before I play them. Any insight would be great. For instance, We-Ko-Pa closes on the 14th, am i OK playing it on the 11th? Troon re-opens on the 3rd, am i OK playing it on the 12th? Thanks!

Always before closure....silly paradox is that most courses are in their best shape right before closure.

Did you go with Vistancia? You could do Eagle Mountain (closes on the 21st) or Legend Trail (Reopens on 29th or so and will be in pretty good shape by mid Oct)
