Ben Hogan CFT

Recommended Posts

i personally love my hogan its one off the most forgiving and easy to hit hybrid i have ever tried. it works great off the fairway and even better off the tee.

i have the 19* model and it feels like im hitting a 5 wood but the cft has a lower more penetrating ball flight which is great for a windy day.

The hogan delivers the perfect amount off spin so you can really get a ball to hold on even the hardest off greens.

I bounced my 2-iron for the 19* loft with the standar Hogan Apex #4 steel shaft ...

I love this thing off the tee on short par 4's ...

Suprised me how easy it was to hit off the deck whe the situation calls for it ...

Would like to try a different shaft, but for the price .... just a great deal.

A lot less than the T-Made with the same performance, if not better ... in my opinion ..

Have the 19 degree CFT with Apex 4 steel (like the shorter steel length for control) - great club which has replaced my 2 iron and vies with a Mizuno Fli-Hi II 18 degree for a regular place in the bag.

Good of the deck and a tee - the titanium face insert certainly gives it a bit of zip. It looks just like (although the Hogan graphics are classier) and performs as well as a Taylor Made Rescue, but is a darn sight cheaper - in the UK anyway where it retails for about £69 or approx $125 (everything is dearer across here as those who have golf holidayed in the UK will know - if you paid what we pay for petrol / gasoline there would be a second American Revolution - tut, tut getting way off the point now).

Don't know if the CFT enjoys any tour use at all as TM (lots of dollars), Sonartec and the emerging Genex seem to be the leaders.

Bought a 2h with Apex graphite stiff and used it for about 6 months. End up giving it to a buddy of mine. I am not a high ball hitter anyway, so I seldom was able to fully use the club. It does have alot of playability; like any good Hogan product it is built in. I would suggest it trying it out before buying it. Just never got on the hybrid bandwagon, I would rather hit a long iron or fairway wood.

I got a 2H CFT 19 degree last summer. The 1st one was with Apex steel and I hit it one round and took it back for the Apex 4 graphite. I played several more rounds and practice sessions with it and never got a good feel for it. It's a shame because it is one of the best looking hybrids out there.

I ended up trading it for a Callaway 3H Heaven wood with seems easier to hit. After all that's the thing about hybrids, they're supposed to be easier to hit.

I could hit my X14 3 iron better than the CFT.

Again got the right person it's a good look and a good value.

I love this club! I have had the 21 (3h) since they came out eons ago, and it won't leave the bag ;) . In fact, I may end up getting the 4h as well. I currently have the stock Apex 4 shaft in it (and all of my irons) and it seems to work great. I may go to a graphite shaft eventually, but the club will stay in the bag. This thing is rediculous if you like to hit down on it! Sweep it and it's a duck hook, hit down on it, and it goes a mile! I've hit this club 260 out of a divot (once, I know, I know, but man that was a bomb :D ) and it is way easier to hit than my 3 iron. I haven't tried the CFT Ti, it looks wider and the stell shaft is gold  One heck of a club.

I have the blue body 3-hybrid edition this in my bag. Unfortunately for me, no matter how I try to hit it, with a sweep, like a short iron, or anything else I've read, I can't hit this club to save my hide. The feel is just too... boxy, rough and I'm going to be looking for a replacement soon with either a 4 iron from my beginner set (which I rocked with last time I played it 2 years ago) or something along those lines. Not a dig on the company, jut a dig on my own feeling on the club.

I was looking for a new 21-22 degree hybrid because I had my G5 for about 7 months and it was time for a change... it came down to this and a TM rescue mid 22*, both with stiff steel shafts. I wanted to buy the TM, but it just looked so clunky and uglier than the Hogan... the Hogan won out, even though it was more expensive (I find that funny, because earlier someone said the TM was more expensive... that's how well TMs hold their value :aggressive: ). The Hogan has been in my bag for 2 rounds and it doesn't show signs of leaving anytime soon.

Oh man. I got this out of the shop a couple years ago and damn these things are amazing and I still have the stock shaft in it. I dont wanna change it cause it works perfect for me. I'm a +2.5 handi and I wouldnt change this club for any other! They are long too. Last year I prob averaged about 240 from the tee and about 230 from the fairway. Its a 19*. Solid!

i have had a hogan 19* in my bag for as long as they have been out i wore one out and had to get another i think that even still it is the best hybrid out there. the only one that may be about to beat is the adams pro golds they are very nice as well. (thinking of getting one of those to replace my three wood). I can hit the hogan a ton I have one right now that i want to get reshafted with a DVS shaft.

The only problem that i have had, and it has happened to both hogans that i have had is that the head comes lose. I have had to get ireset a few times. I am hoping that after i put the DVS shaft in i can get that solved that is my only complaint though otherwise i would never get ride of it. I have not found anything better yet.

THe Hogan CFT is one of the few hybrids that doesn't have a hook bias. I have the CFT Ti 2h and just ordered the 0h from TGW for $60. Can't beat that. It sets up slightly open and has a great trajectory. I can't wait to get the 0h which is a 14*, not sure that I'll need any fairway woods. I hit the 19* 2h about 215-220.

The only reason I have it in my bag is because it's a great club. Very under rated, too.

As a result, I have a brand new Mizuno mp-60 2 iron in my closet collecting dust! My CFT is 19 degree stiff graphite (stock) and works great from pine straw, leaves, rough and teebox.

I also believe the face is titanium so it pops. It's nice to be able to go over a tree when you're blocked rather than hit a low bullet from time to time. I know you can do this with most hybrids but I tested most of them and this one won.

The best hybrid I have hit. I changed the shaft and put an NV 105 and it made this club a rocket launcher. I have had mine in the bag since they came out and no other hybrid compares.

I think it is the nicest looking hybrid I have ever seen. Perfect combo of iron and fairway looks. It also hits as well as any I have tried. If you need any proof that tour use is based on $$, look here. This is a great golf club that you will use for 2nd shots on par5s as well as the 200 yard par 3 shots with confidence. - cheaply and widely available.

I've wanted to try one of these probably since...they came out. Just got one for bargain bin $9.99 - 3h 21* with steel hogan 3 flex (regular?) and just hitting into the woods behind my house...it's a nice hybrid. Looking to get it out possibly tomorrow for my round.

Any love for these? Did any pros ever have one in their bag?

My father who no-longer plays, had 3 of these in an old bag from back in the day. 2 were brand new, one was hit like twice !

I listed on ebay just 2 weeks ago and the 3 hybrids [2,3 and 4 in regular flex] just sold collectively for £200 UK.....or approx $350 US.

Seems like the love is still out there. Heads looked LOVELY and i would / have could gamed in a heart-beat if i wasn't currently building a retro Ping set-up after a long lay-off.

I would imagine you'll love yours, and that if it feels half as solid as it looks - you'll be just fine !

Good luck.
