Best Knock off ever

In the 90s I played the Tommy Armour 845 knockoffs. They were Accu Trac XL 400s. Nice clubs. I thought they hit as good as the 845s. Bought them at a reputable golf store. Those clubs were really pushed by sales people back then.

I had the same clubs! They now belong to my dad. I really liked them, there was extremely little transition when I was given a set of 845s.

I had a set of TA knockoff's believe during the late80's early 90's they were called 755's??. Great clubs, had them shafted with DG's and custom fitted, I actually liked them more than the original TA's, better feel and less offset in the long irons.

I also had a set of Tour Model II's prior to this that I bought from Golfsmith, they were total crap. It was my first set of clubs after a starter set I bought from a friend in college. A friend of mine and myself ordered the componets, 1-LW and slapped them together, we actually did a decent job, but the specs were all off on the clubheads. I found that my favorite club in the set was a 1 irons, het it great, but when I had the specs checked I found it had the loft of a 4 iron, is was kind of like a hybrid for me.

The Armour 845 knockoffs were the 767. I played with them for a long time and it was a seemless transition when I could finally afford the real 845 irons and woods.

Not a set of iron "knock-offs," but the Super Concord FW, a "knock-off" of the original Adams Tight Lies FW wood. Had at least 1 and as many as 3 in my bag from 1998 - until May of this year.

I just played with a guy that had one in his bag. I thought that it was funny that the concords listed their patents on the sole plate just like the tight lies.

Tour issue Aeroburner TP 10.5* Diamana D+ 70x

I too played Ping Eye 2 knockoffs. I think they were called "Tour Model 2"s or something like that. They were built for me by a guy at a local driving range and felt just as good as the real thing to me. They also made woods that looked performed like the old TM burner series of FW woods and drivers (flex twist shafts and all).

BDLz

That was my first set of clubs when I was in college (around 1990). I even had the 1-iron! The head on my 906F4 18.5* is bigger than the driver head from that set. I loved those clubs.

The legal clones business, knockoffs if you will, turns out excellent equipment. take a look at DiamondTour.com and the variety of stuff they have. My son got the Snake Bite C6 irons, knockoffs of the Cobra s9, and he can't tell a difference, having used both. I bought two hybrids, knockoffs of the Nike Sumo square hybrid they call the Tubby and they perform just like the real thing that I test hit a dozen times.

Ha...NO.

They started as a club component maker.

I can't remember where I had read it or what source.. but I thought maybe back in the day, Nickent did make the Super Concord's at one point.

The first club that I could ever hit with any consistency was a Super Concorde by Nickent 5W. I gave it up several years ago but it now sits in my son's bag, right next to an original Adams Tight Lies 3W.

I would nominate most Cameron putters as the best knock offs ever made.

LOL… very good.

While I game a Cameron Santa Fe, I would agree that Ping and Ray Cook were doing the same thing very well prior.

Played some of my best golf in the mid 90’s with a set of Dynacraft BFC irons 1-GW. They were a lot like 845’s just better for me.

They must of sold a lot of these woods. I still see them everywhere. I played some for a couple of years and a friend of mine still has some next to his Pings in his bag.

These are solid clubs and especially good for a beginner who doesn't want to spend a lot money. As a matter of fact I gave them to a friend of mine who was taking up the game a couple of years ago. He just got rid of them a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe I should pick some up for a reshaft and have some sleeper clubs. :)

are any of these Knock Offs Forged?

Some forged blades These seem to be some pretty nice blades. Once you get the grips and shafts it will surely be a little more expensive but still CHEAP! i was lookin at the lofts and they are +1* (compared to the bridgestone blades). But when you order them you can have that changed........... they make a cavity forged also

I’d say odyssey sold more knockoff ping putters than Cameron.

Seems as if knockoff equipment was popular in the 1990s to early 2000s.  Not so much now.  Or is it that I play at better places now where people don’t use such equipment?  Counterfeit gear might be more popular now.  I always stayed away from cheap crap knockoffs because I was always wary of the quality of the shafts.

Wow, old thread bump, nice work.

I always talk about my old Zing 2's but they were actually knock offs that I thought played perfect. So perfect I had played them from '97 until last year when I bought my Vapor Pro Combos.

Back in the mid-90's I played a set of Cleveland VAS 792 knock-offs.  Yes, just TRY to imagine how ugly these things were.  I paid $100 for the set, brand new, from the little shop that ran the driving range I would hit at.  I was 13 or 14 at the time, so it was all I could afford and I thought these things were the most bad-a** clubs in the world.  Oh, to be young again.

I don't know if this qualifies as a knockoff, but when Ping TiSi's were the hot driver, I demoed an Integra driver that was very similar in size and shape of TiSi. It was a pretty awesome driver w/ the old Prolite 35S shaft.

My information was the long driver guys were using Integra heads back then.  I had the same driver you mentioned.  People said it was inspired by TiSi but not a straight up copy.  I bought it from a website where you picked the head, shaft, and grip and for an extra $5 they would assemble it for you.  Was coming off a long layoff from golf and the Integra was my upgrade from Pittsburgh Persimmon.  Took it to the range and sliced everything about 50 yards sideways.  Had my doubts if it was me or the club so I asked  a guy on range who was crushing the ball with his driver to try mine.  He crushed the Integra dead straight and handed it back to me.  Lol.

I remember a small golf shop in Langhorne, PA that only sold knock-off clubs.  He had a whole wall of them.  Those clubs worked. I played a league match against a young guy last year.  He had X14 clones and shot 1 over.  Beat me by a shot.

Still see a lot of knockoff clubs when I play charity scrambles.
