Nickent Hybrids

Recommended Posts

I've played these about one and a half years now (3DX DC) and have re-shafted last winter as the stock shafts aren't good. I hit them better but tried my brothers Baffler and it is much easier to hit. Also, hitting these out of fairway bunkers is hazardous to their health! They must be aluminum as the face is all dinged up. There are better hybrids out there.

Ah...understood now. I have stated earlier in here how much I loved this club...and many months and 50+ rounds later it is still reliable for me and I am only a 12-14 handicap. I have 4 utility wood which is 17* and it is my longest club that I will hit off the fairway and I get about 215-220 consistently with a little fade. Please note that my fade is from my natural swing not the club, but that fade helps the ball land soft after 215 yards of carry. It is a shallower face so I will not try to pick it off a tee...but it is basically my club for second shots on par 5's and for a long par 4 at my club that is up hill. You will be very pleased and that club is one of the best values right now since they are blowing them out a cheap prices right now.

I do have to be really careful on really wet lies and fairways because it is very easy to dig in a little too much at pop the shot up a little too much....and a lot too much also :black eye:

hi all. very new to this forum and glad i found this thread cause im hoping someone can answer a question about these clubs for me.

i notice there is basically 2 versions :

the dc utility ironwood and the "wood iron"

my question is why on the "wood irons" do some have just a 3 or 5 but some have 3/fw or 5/fw

are there 3 versions or are some just say a year older or newer?

any help is geatly appreciated.

i ask because i have a 3 and a 5/fw and want to make sure i have the right loft gap. i dont want essentially the same club with 2 different numbers.

thanks

Recently reshafted my 20* 3DX DC Ironwood with a Grafalloy Epic Hybrid stiff, and this club just came to life. Played this club all last year with the stock SR2 shaft, and it was decent, but much better now with the Epic.

I just ordered the same club in a 15.5* and plan on putting an Epic in that also and kicking my 3wood out of the bag!

I have a Nickent 3DX DC Utility (17*) with a Aldila NV graphite shaft which I use as a 2-iron and a 3DX DC Ironwood (20*) with a Nippon steel shaft in place on my 3-iron currently in my bag. I also have a 23* 3DX DC Ironwood which may replace my 4-iron. These are the easiest hybrids have I have played with so far, and I have tried quite a few.

I bought a 3DX DC Ironwood 20* with an Aldila NV-S from Rockbottom Golf for $50 bucks. Added a Golf Pride New Decade grip because the stock grip was a little mushy for me. Hit it this weekend at the range for the first time and I really like the way it feels. Goes long and straight. Seriously considering getting the 26* too and taking the 4 and 5 irons out of the bag.

Found a matching 5+ 24.5* on EBay this week and couldn't pass it up. Same shaft and all. Getting it regripped here at lunch with the same grip as the 3 and can't wait to put it in play this weekend. I think this should finally complete my bag.

Although I'm definitely in the minority, I thought these hybrids were crap. They just had a cheap feel to them, as well as a strange ball flight. I had much better success with my Ben Hogan hybrid after that.

I've since moved on to play Adams Pro Gold and Titleist 585.H.

I have the 3rd and 4dx and must say they are the best out there. Damn shame they went under. For the price they go for now a day it is a great investment

I think I was taken aback by the shiny face...It just didn't feel like a quality product. In contrast, the Adams Pro Gold both looks and feels the part, as does my 585.H.
