5W or hybrid

So by reading the forums on this site, I've found that indeed, yes I am a club ho...So I've been thinking about getting a hybrid. I used to carry a 3i and I'm not afraid to use it, I replaced it with a 52 wedge, I still carry a 4i, and a steel shaft 5 wood. I wanted to try a hybrid that takes the place of a 3i, with a steel shaft....how will this compare with the 5 wood (which I hit great), in distance, trajectory, all that good stuff?

I use a 2 iron hybrid, a TM Rescue Dual TP, because I've never been happy with 5 woods. When the weather is fine it's a great club to have but as soon as it gets a bit breezy the flight with this club was just too high with too much spin. I don't regret replacing it with a hybrid at all.

If you go for a 3 iron hybrid then expect it to be a fair bit shorter than your 5 wood.

Great point!

My 5 wood was just as long as my 3 wood both flying around

225 yards or so.

My 18* hybrid is 10 yards shy of that but really fits well with in

the set, covering the gaps well.

D .........250 yards

3w .......225 yards

2h ........210 yards

3h/DI....195 yards

With a hybrid you will find that its a lot easier to hit out of tight lies. You could hit out of rough with a hybrid that you wouldnt even dream of attempting with a fairway wood.

Ive got a 21* hybrid, which is supposed to replace a 3-iron and it works well.

I didnt like hybrids at first, but once I stopped thinking of them as a fairway wood and started thinking of them like an iron (which means playing the ball in the middle of your stance and hitting down on the ball), I really liked them.

I used to be a diehard long iron guy, but hybrids are just so much easier to hit that I see no reason to carry a long iron anymore.

It's 16 degrees. If you are looking to get a higher flight then try hitting down slightly and taking a small divot.

For me the hybrid has been a great addition to the bag. I have even gone so far as to replace my 3 wood with a hybrid as well. I carry......

Driver - 270

15 hybrid - 235

19 hybrid - 215

4 iron - 200

For me the 15 hybrid was about 10 yards shorter than my 3 wood, but much....MUCH easier to hit off the deck. The 19 hybrid is again, 10 yards shorter than my old 5 wood, but still easier to hit and more consistant. I am only carrying 13 clubs so I could put the 3 wood back in the bag, but probably wont.

By the way, I am very partial, but I don't thing you can go wrong with Adams hybrids. :jester:
