Looking for a long, fairly forgiving 460 cc driver

I have been happy with my driver for a couple years, so I haven't been paying attention to the buzz about drivers. I have built a backup driver with a slightly longer shaft but the same head as my gamer. However, this particular head sucks. It is loud, feels lousy and produces some erratic ball flights. The head is also 425ccs. So I am looking for a 460cc to have as a backup stick. I want a head that is hot but also fairly forgiving. My current index is +0.2, and I tend to hit the center of the face. My predominant ball flight is straight.

I'm thinking about the G10, and maybe the Tour Edge product. What do you guys recommend?

My Adams 9015D is traditional shape, crazy long, and plenty forgiving...best driver I have hit in years.

 

It has the feel of an old school Titleist driver (975D, 975J) but with today's forgiveness and distance...GREAT stick!

I used a Ping G5 for awhile and really liked it, but recently switched to a Taylor Made R7 460..its an older driver, but it is awesome..first day on the course with it I hit a 310 bomb!!! (downhill into a hard pan :) ) but averaged about 275 the rest of the day..

The TM Tour Burner TP is a awesome driver.

 

I had the G10 with the PL Red that i got a month or so ago and it was great but walked into the local Roger Dunn and I saw a used Tour Burner TP for $339. Picked one up and headed to the range and for me, the TBTP feels a lot better. I would love to re-shaft the G10 with the Diamana WB to see if I would love that combo more but I'm happy with my set up right now. Returned my G10 and ending up paying $40 out of pocket for the TBTP (G10 cost me $299). I know there was a lot hype about the TBTP went it first came out and it really lived up to it for me at least. I know a lot people hate the every other month price drop on the TM but I ended up getting a great driver for a great price. Just my 2 cents,

Got to agree with the T.M. Tour Burner T.P. Got mine with the Diamana shaft solid hits even on slight misses, and very good length. This replaced my T.M. 460 T.P. with a Matrix Altus shaft. The t p version set up about 1 degree open, I don't think there's a better sound/feel driver out there.

What's the diff between the Tour Burner TP and the non-TP version?

FT-5 with the RIGHT SHAFT is a bomber. Of course, you also have to get the right loft, fade/neutral/draw version, etc.

:) If you are going to hit some drivers on a lauch monitor try out the Cleveland Hibore XLS. It's what I have been hitting for about the last six months and the thing is long with plenty of forgiveness.

What's the diff between the Tour Burner TP and the non-TP version?

 

The non-TP version has a slightly closed club face, the TP version has a neutral/slightly open face...TP version is more workable..

I just bought a Cleveland Hibore XL. I got the gold shaft. It's the longest, straightest driver I've ever hit. And I wasn't even looking for a driver. And at $150, this thing is a steal!

XLD I heard very good things about it too.. can have exotic shaft upgrades next to nothing ..

The only one is Cleveland Hibore XL, try different shafts (gold, red). XLS is basicaly the same but more expensive.

Even the orginal Hibore is good.

I really like my Tour Burner TP's, havent even considered anything else.

 

Another solid driver that gets overlooked IMO is the Rapture. Of course you need the right shaft and head, but its definitely a solid driver with a traditional shape.

I just got a Sumo2 5900 and love it.....also had a 907 D1. Both are very forgiving.

I'll through the Hyper x into the mix as I think mine is pretty forgiving. I think according to the club test 08 in one of the magazines the Callaway FTI is one of the most forgiving drivers out there, if you dont mind the square head of course.

But I also like the G10 and TM TBTP.
