handicap- depending on how you write it I have to give courses 3 strokes back.

touring pro.

For the record. The guys in europe and downunder. I truely believe courses in America are much harder. I have played some of the top courses in Scottland and Ireland, England. I love how they play but to me they are short and easy. I Don't really have a problem with any course anymore. I have more than enough distance to handle any course it is that damn flat stick that is holding me back. I can't make the putts when I need them to drop. For all you europeans You have got to play PGA WEST STADIUM COURSE for the tips. That course is THE HARDEST COURSE I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I have played a lot of courses in my short life too.

Cool, I'm hoping to go over to the US for college and looking to play golf in college golf. For your putting jdhalissey, just tell yourself over every putt you have, "This going in, no doubt about it". If you don't believe it's going in, it won't

Haha tried it-- Do you crazy brits have any golf balls i could buy that are not afraid of the dark?? :) I have yet to find some!

Age: 16

HC: 8

Career: Doctor (find out specifically which kind after an intership)

'06 will be year #3 in this great game.

Thats probably the only realistic post so far, basically the onyl one that doesn't say 'PGA Tour Pro'. I'm not sure you guys know how hard it really is to become one of those, you need to be off scratch by the time you are 14 to have any chance in most cases.

i just went on this site to get a calculation for a USGA handicap.

http://www.csgnetwork.com/golfhcapcalc.html

i put in my last five scores which were 74,77,80,79,78 on a par 71 course. i have no idea what the slope rating for the courses were!

the thing is, my hcp is 9.4 her in the UK but those scores gave me an index of 2.9, WTF! if i put in more scores it rises slightly but not alot.

bottom line = everyone move to America and we can all play of scratch, lol.

I know, so funny!!! I got a 4 handicap despite being off 12 in the UK (which is actually closer to 9-10 having not played a comp since August!).

Age-14

Handicap- like 8 or something

Career- Something in Australia, or mybe take over my dad's business. The second would probably work out better.

You can't imagine how little respect I have for kids that do that, and have everything handed to them on a plate. Appalling attitude, where's you sense of achievement?

Anyway, me:

Age: 17 (3 days ago!)

Handicap: Officially a UK 12, but as I haven't played a comp since Aug 06, and have been shooting in the mid to high 70s, probably closer to 9-10. The calculator Danny used gives me a US 4.

Career ambition: Accountant/Actuary, to make it as far as I can go in a big firm such as KPMG or PWC.

Thank you dave for the compliment there. Theres no way I could ever dream of becoming a tour pro, because my competitive rounds range from the 70s up to the high 90s! Theres a real difference between how you shoot when you're out with your buddies vs. when theres actually something on the line, which is why I don't really care about my handicap, which is actually more of an average of how many over I am on my rounds instead of something official. If I played more competitive rounds, I know that number would be much higher.

I watched a charity skins game the other week with Paul Azinger as the headliner, the 2008 Ryder Cup captain. He didn't hit the ball great by any stroke of the imagination when he played, sprayed it all over the place on a course he had never played with hard, fast greens, and was still able to shoot even par if I kept stroke scores correctly. For the majority of people here, I imagine that an even par round on a course you don't know is a solid day of golf, versus a terrible day of golf like it was for Zinger.

Dreams are nice, I don't want to be one to squash them, but when its time to go off to college, theres no school that has a major in "PGA Tour"
