Finally got to see Mr. Utley on the Golf Channel last night. I really liked his fresh views on putting and th putting stroke. Actually reminded me of what I used to do vs trying any & everything to get the ball in the hole. Square stance, ball position in middle of stance or slightly forward. I loved the fact that he recommended a little forward press to start the putting stroke. And the biggie, let the putter swing around the body vs straight back and straight through. Very loose arms, elbows, hands, and swing the putter head not the grip. Grip lightly and wow the ball comes off the putter face! Stan is the Man!

I agree! :cheesy: I'm a BIG advocate of STan's techniques, and feel they are more "natural" during the stroke. It was a GREAT show.

 

One technique that I like to use is putting the ball more near the middle of your stance for short chips and pitches (rather than near your right foot, back in your stance, which always felt awkward to me). I feel MUCH more natural and comfortable over the ball this way. Does anyone else do this?

Great Topic. I have been doing a lot of searching on Stan's teachings. The videos on TGC are great but, for me, they lack a lot of detail. I have incorporated his chip/pitch methods and it seems to be working so far. I have heard that he has a book coming out in March of this year. I have heard that Stan's methods/theories are taking the tours by storm. If anyone has had lessons and can share more in depth drills, throughts, setup, execution of his methods, it would be greatly appreciated.
