The people that I know that have tried them, love them. I have a couple wedges but hey never really thrilled me. I have heard so many great things, and if you go to Scratch Home Page, they have some really nice finishes and they will do whatever you want as far as grinds, weights, stampings, finishes etc. I wanted to buy a set but , could never pull the trigger on them.

What is your honest opinion about Scratch products?  The early wedges had questionable grinds and finishes, but I have heard that they have really improved their quality control.

Opinion?

I love those Scratch wedges so much that I almost have too many Scratch wedges (6 of them!!!). ;)

You need to get hold of Ari and talk to him about getting yourself couple of Scratch wedges. I think Joe "The Ho" Kwok had couple of them a while ago. :busted_cop:

I just sold a set of the 05 cb's- IMO some of the finest irons around, I only sold them as I needed less offset than these- but they are solid and as soft as they get- a real bargin for the quality and options you can have.

I love the Scratch wedges I own. They are hands down the best wedges I have played, I assume because they are ground according to my preferences. Having a custom ground wedge is just a huge asset to anyone's golf game. Although I love them, the turn around time is not great. I understand it takes time to custom grind, but there were additional delays beyond the quoted time with both of my wedges. An excellent product though.

That was my own hand grind! Ari asked me if i can grind a couple to see at that time. So he send me two fresh raw from the die that i have to grind down about 10-15 grams access metal to shape them the way i think it should be.

The lucky guy who got my 54* is ALCAP ( alan ). I still have the 60* that i've been considering to throw it as a price on one of our contest here.

Cheers!

Joe ;)

Joe,

off subject here. Your work is very well recognized and I was hoping to pick your brain on an idea I was thinking of doing. I am looking to make a AW/GW by bending a PW weak. Particularly I am looking at using a TM RAC MB because they can be bent 4* weak. This will bring the bounce to 10*, is the amount of work to grind the bounce down to 7* worth it? Will there be issues with the integrity of the end product? I can also consider a TM X300FCI PW which is 49* stock which might be a better option because there is more "meat" on the head.

Do forged iron heads like these need to be refinished after going thru this type of grinding? If so ball park the cost of the whole process (grind and finish). You can PM me the cost if you wish to keep that private.

Thank you for your help.

Mike

The only think you have to worry is the weight of the club. Grinding of the bounce angle to make it a 7* should not be a significant changes, I would say around 2 swing weight the most = 4 grams. That would be easily replace w/ tip plug. However if the original weight of the club is too light, then you have a problem putting to much weight by tip. It will somewhat make the club heel bias, However you need to remember... this a PW that has a lot of loft and hit pretty much around 120-130 yards, which IMO will not effect your shot to much other than feel.

As of refinishing, If you are looking for a perfomance only, you don't need to refinish it...cuz it will never effect the perfomance. Unless cosmetic is very important to you.

When it come to how much i charge is depending how much i need to work on the club. grinding, pulling the shaft out and adjust the weight to a proper weight again, replace the grip ( maybe ), etc.

You can send me an email and i 'll give you my number to call and discuss exactly what you need and i'll quote you then. That would the best way to do IMO.

BTW, Thanks for your kind words.

Cheers!

Joe,

Thanks for the super fast reply. I just looked at my source and the X300FCI PW is still available. These heads have some good "meat on them" so grinding will have minimal effect on the weight.

The only work I can see being needed is the grind work, lenthening the shaft by 1inch (I play my irons +3/4 38.5 5-Iron) , maybe adding some lead in the butt for SW, and a new grip. Should be a piece of cake for ya :busted_cop:

I'll be in touch in the next few weeks.

Thanks,

Mike
