wedge loft?

what's next in line?

ok guys........so i've decided to go with the rac black tp wedge for my set up.....but before purchasing the set.....what loft should i get?

here's what i have for my current iron set up......(tm rac os2) :cheesy:

3i - 20º
4i - 23º
5i - 26º
6i - 29º
7i - 33º
8i - 37º
9i - 41º
pw - 45º

so my choices for the rac black tp wedges are as follow:

52 - 8º bounce
54 - 10º bounce
56 - 12º bounce
58 - 8º bounce
60 - 6º bounce

If you want to be consistent in your spacing, I would suggest a 50* and a 54* The 50* would be your gap wedge, and you could use the 54* as a sand and lob wedge.

 

Just my reccomendation though.

if it were me, i'd go for THREE more wedges...

however with such a strong lofted PW you'll have a hard time covering the gap...

 

i've got a 47 degree PW in my iron set...

i go to a 51 degree gap, 54 sand, then 60 degree lob...

 

 

point being i think you need to find a gap wedge in the 49 or 50 degree range, then maybe a 54/56 sand and 60 degree lob wedge in the RAC wedges you listed...

 

drop the 3 iron and play 4 wedges...

 

your scoring clubs are more important...

It all depends on how versatile you are with your wedges...try it out and if you think 6º is too much have it bent 2º strong.

ok......with that being said.........the rac blk tp wedge line-up does not have a 50º wedge......they start out at 52º.......and 2º up from there.......so if i wanted a 50º, i would have it bent 2º strong?

 

so if im going to go with a 50º wedge, there's still a 5º difference between the pw and gap wedge.........

 

i guess to make matters easy.......i should start out with a 52º and a 56º and go from there? what do ya think?

i have a 52 and 58 in my bag. 47* PW in standard set. I feel its good overall balance. I typically dont hit full shots w/ 52&58, so degree difference is not an issue.

watch: out bending a wedge changes the bounce dramatically

This is an easy one...

 

Since you have a "modern" set of irons, your 3 iron is 1 degree off of a "standard" 2 iron. For example, the 704.CB's 3 iron loft is 22. So, here's what you do...

 

Dump the 3 iron and get your 4 iron bent 1 degree strong to 22*. Buy the 50* AW to match your RAC OS set. Now, you have a traditional set of irons...

 

From here, you can go 54/58 or 54/60.

 

I agree with what was said above regarding bending however, bending any club 1 degree either way isn't going to affect the bounce in any way that we will be able to notice...
