I was there this past year. I played Sea Trail Jones, Byrd and Maples (my uncle works there), great courses. Give them all a shot if you can, but the Jones is the best. The par three 5th over water looks very nice, but can be a card wrecker. One of my favorite holes I've ever played. Lucky for me I hit the green and two putted for my par! I'm proud of that. Anyway, Maples I shot my best score ever on, 73, and Byrd is a nice course as well. Alot of water on Jones and Byrd. All three are maintained to the highest degree, so you will get what you pay for, it's worth it.

In Myrtle Beach, try Arrowhead, a Ray Floyd signature course. This course was a fun one to play, very Myrtle Beach like with lots of good landscaping. A tough course as well (have 3 nines that they put 2 together to make 18 in different combinations. I believe you can call in a tee time for whichever two courses you want to play)

Have a good time! You will. Lemme know if you have any more questions on Sea Trail, Arrowhead, or anything else in the area.

I'm going away to Myrtle Beach in April. So far we have chosen 3 courses. Tiger's Eye, Tidewater and Sea Trail (Jones). We need to pick a fourth course. If anybody has any siggestions that would be great!

Since you're obviously staying way up north (I own a villa in that area.. My villa is right across the street from Sea trail, about 2 miles from Tiger's eye, and about 20 minutes from Tidewater), I would suggest either Sea Trail - Bryd or probably the best course in the area, Thistle. Thistle has 12 minute tee times, meaning play is always fast.

Other courses to consider in the area are Lions Paw and Panther's Run (both part of the Tiger's eye complex), Crow Creek, Rivers Edge, Farmstead, and Glen Dornoch (although I'm not a huge fan. most like it).

Feel free to PM me with any questions. I've played a lot of courses down there.

Tiger's Eye is a must, Tidewater should be ok, but watch the greens they get a lot of local play.

Thistle is a must play, have never played the Jones course, but if you can get it booked through one of the online tee-time makers, go down and play The Dunes!!!!

www.mbgolf.com has the ability to make times there.

play the Thistle and Tiger's Eye,definitely.

Caledonia is a long ride if you are staying up North, but worth the trip.

I liked Glen Dornoch, Thistle and (surprisingly) Oyster Bay a lot in North Myrtle. Barefoots I would skip, except for the Fazio course.

I found Oyster Bay hard to like, but I played like I just started that day!!! lol lol

Glen Dornoch is supposed to be nice, but I have never played it. I played Heather Glen in the rain and didn't much care for it, but I would like to go back and see it on a sunny day.

Angels Trace has a couple of good tracks that are solid, they won't blow you away, but they are reasonable and generally in good shape. Most of the locals play there, so it won't take all day to play.

The Dunes is fun, because it's exclusive, but it's overrated.

Thistle, Tiger's Eye, and Sea Trail Jones are all better plays and definitely better value

As I go to Myrtle every year, and have for the last 8 or so, I may be able to provide some insight. Rivers Edge would be at the top of my list, provided they have resolved the issue with #5. Caledonia and True Blue are both excellent and challenging. Crow Creek is boring...every hole is basically straight with little elevation change. Farmstead and Tiger's Eye are both okay, but not in the category of some others. Carolina National has some good holes, but is out of the way if you are not staying in North Myrtle. There are a lot of average courses in Myrtle. There is a local website and forum, URL escapes me, that provides updates and insight as to recommended courses. Have a good trip. Of secondary note, avoid the over-h yped tourist trap restaurants that proliferate the area.

:cheesy: :)

I wasn't a fan either, but I could see how it had potential. Matter of fact I didn't like it at all. I felt like the tried to put too much on a small piece of land. Still yet though, the course was in great shape when I played it, so I guess that's the real reason I mentioned it.
