anyone every black oxide their irons?

Hey Ya'll. I sent a request to a black oxide service out in california and they say its 41 per club, I have 8 clubs I want refinished in a black oxide look. They are 3-pw of my Cleveland TA7 Tour set.

 

I am just curious to see if anyone has done this type of refinishing or used this service before. I am not worried to much about the money because they would be awesome if I got it done. I only perhaps questions the quality a little bit. That and the fact that the company said I should only send them the heads of my clubs. Which means I'd have to take the shafts out of them and then put them back in once I got the irons back. Anyon care to give me an estimate on how much it costs to yank a shaft and then put in back in on TA7 Tours?

the company said it would only take 4 to 5 weeks turn around time. its $41 dollars per club, but you send heads only. I thought it would like nice, considering I have 2 black pearl cg10 wedges. The only problem I having is whether its worth it knowing the sole and face of the club will lose the finish by years end with the amount of golf I play.

Black Oxide will wear, whether it is on a putter, wedge, or irons. While I agree, it looks awesome when it first comes back, it will wear reasonably quickly from there. Also, if my memory serves me correctly the head has to be raw for the finish to stick, so you will lose some weight with that. $41 per club sounds a little expensive, there might be a local company that can black oxide parts, and they normally charge per tray of parts (a tray can normally hold 3 - 4 heads).
