Best 3wood?

Hey everyone,

I am a 1 handicapper at 15 years old. I am not a very long hitter and i currently carry a Cleveland Launcher 17 degree 4 wood. I can carry that club about 220 - 230 yards but I am looking to replace it with a 3 wood. The two clubs i have been looking at are the r7 tp and the new mizuno. Any input on a 3 wood/shaft combo that has a great feel and a high launch angle. Any input wuld be much appreciated.

Thanks

:cheesy: cheers,

The Kasco KP 99 is imo the best 3 wood ever made.

i'm a big fan of the nike ignite 3-wood and the taylormade v-steel.

the ignite is a bit of a deep face, but is still easy to hit off the turf (my weakness is hitting off the turf, especially here in north texas, and this is easy for me). it is super long, with a medium-high trajectory, with a soft landing that will hold greens (i use the stock steel shaft). great for off the tee box if your looking for that as well.

the v-steel is a shallow face 3-wood that is extremely easy of the fairway. very long, but not as long as the ignite. ball launches up pretty quick, but a medium-high trajectory again with a soft landing (true temper s300 lite). good off the tee too, but pretty high.

both are great woods and easy to hit, plus both can be had pretty cheap.

I would consider the Titleist 970 as well. Awesome club....

greets

claas

He wants a high launch and that is the last thing the 970 offers.

Personally I think you should chreck out a TM 200 tour Smooth top if you can get hold of one as these are one the the highest hitting woods available. :)

Sorry, i´ve not seen that he wished a high launch...then you´re totally right

cheers claas :cheesy:

Dude try sonartec...i am also 15 and i am also a low handicap. I personally have the ss-03...awesome 3 wood...but look at the other sonartecs...they are the best!

Ditto for the Sonartec...most solid fairway wood I've ever hit. I have an SS-07 14* & 19*. Easy to hit and sneaky long!

Even though I am a beginner I can hit the V-Steel pretty well, even off of the mat (have not had a chance to try it off the fairway yet). But today at the driving range someone let me try his older Tour Edge and although I don't know the exact model it was very nice. It had a great sound and seemed to hit the ball pretty high. Now I have no idea how that will compare to the Tour Edge exotics but it does make me think that Tour Edge knows a bit about 3 woods.

Still, at $110 for a Taylor Made V-Steel it is hard to go wrong.

if you like the cleveland 17* 4 wood, why not just get the cleveland launcher steel 15* or the launcher ti 15*, very solid clubs and you already know how they play. great deals on ebay on these woods. myself, i replaced a 17* cleveland 4 wood with a bridgestone j33 15* 3 wood, slightly longer and lower trajectory, got it brand new on ebay for $130, same traditional classic pear shape design, realize too that the cleveland 17* 4 wood is 43" long which is the standard for most 3 woods, the j33 15* is exactly the same length.

Tourstage FS-T, hands down, super versatile, more forgiving than a priest. Awesome, undescribable feel and sound at impact. I swear, i think its legal but the way it shoots off the face is unreal. Hit the vsteel again today after getting rid of it 2 years ago when i couldnt hit a 3 wood to save my life, and i was surprised at how good it feels as well. I hear sonartecs are good but i just never could get used to them. Tourstage or Bridgestone, you CANT go wrong.

Here is list of some new fairway woods I like...

Ping G5

Callaway Big Bertha Fusion

Mizuno F-50

TaylorMade V Steel

Cleveland Laucher Comp

All of them are well worth a try. A light shaft, something about 60g, will give you a higher ball flight if required. Good luck in your search.

You sure your scratch? You should win every Junior Tour Event.

Like not trying to bring you down or w/e but 77, 82 (at your home course), 77 (which are the only 3 results I could find) isn't exaclty scratch golfer scores.

I believe Mike Mottola is a 1 or 2 handicap and he played on the Niagara College golf team that won the Canadian Championships, along with Egeter who I believe is only a scratch or little below scratch mayve +1 and is probably the best golfer in the region, as seen by his 2nd place finish in all of Canada at the Univeristy Golf Championships, as well as all other tournaments he has played in/won.

Maybe you are a scratch, but I highly doubt it....dont exagerate your handicap, your 15 you got YEARS to improve your game why cheat yourself now??
