Carry/Stand Bag Recommendations

I need a new carry bag this year. It has to be fairly light since I walk almost 90% of the time. Other things I am looking for are a good club organizing system and enough room to carry rain/cold weather gear since I live up here in Michigan and you never no what weather to expect.

I've been looking at OGIO, Nike and Pink so far. All look good but I have no experience with them. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for something light because you walk alot?

Ogio Vaporlite would be pick for someone like you. I too, never ride a cart (unless I'm on vacation), so I walk alot. I was looking for a carry bag that was light and had a ton of pockets, and the Vaporlite seemed to be the one. It's got 7 pockets, weighs in at 3.75 lbs, and has the woode top. Great Bag, with a nice blue fade.

Didn't know it had 7 pockets :drinks: , might have to look into the Vaporlite a little more.

I too just picked up the MPB (Mispriced @ Golfsmith $99.99) I wanted a bag to do it all. Cart bag/Speed Cart/walking bag. This is a very well designed bag, from the straps to the full length dividers, putter well. All around the best bag I could find.

I love not advertizing for a major OEM, that was a must.

The latest Hoofer model from Ping is my only stand bag pick. Hands down the best bag I have ever owned. I have tried every bag on the market before going with the hoofer last year for the first time.

I almost settled on the Ogio Vaporlite, but the strap seems let go on to separate bags, and I was sick of returning it.

I have tried the Nike stand bags and although they were good most were too heavy and the ones that weren’t had issues.

The hoofer is light enough at 4.5 pounds, more than adequate dividers, water bottle holder, perfect stand mechanism, easily adapted to a driving cart, straps are comfortable and easy to loop around your shoulder while walking, a lot of pockets, lastly very very durable.

I have a problem committing to logos; I play Mizuno irons so therefore mentally I needed a Mizuno bag because everything needs to match. I have gotten over my golf neuroses, and purchased the hoofer because it was perfect. What helped with my mental/club-hoing problem was that I custom ordered the Hoofer with my name embroidered on it and had ping make the bag with out any Ping logos on the sides. The bag looks so sweet that way.

I will post a picture if I get a chance.

I am a big fan of Ogio bags, I still use an Exo bought in late 2004, still in great shape, no issues and the Wood-e system works well for the clubs.

Purchased an OGIO Edge stand bag recently and it is awsome. :drinks: It has to be one of the most well thought out bags. It is a bit on the heavy side for a carry bag but pick up a 2lb weight plate at the gym :pimp: and tell me you could feel the difference if you carried it in a "superlite bag". :crazy2: I also like the Ping hoofer extreme but I never liked their divider system. Ping is switching back to the old hoofer style divider, those bags should ship in March...Hope that helps.

Believe it or not, I am loving my Acuity stand bag. If you've ever been to Dick's Sporting Goods you've heard of Acuity. The sell everything from stand bags to full club sets to ball markers. Everything is very reasonable.

I bought a nice red and grey Acuity stand bag in September for like $50. I'm a minimalist, so the fact that it only has 4 pockets is ok with me. I don't like to be carrying lots of unnecessary crap anyway. The bag is very lightweight, has five slots for tees so they're always handy, and even has a pocket with a built-in water bottle. I love it.

My point is, you don't necessarily have to spend a lot of money to get a quality bag.

Just bought a hoofer extreme. Although it doesn't have the bells and whistles like the OGIO line has, it is fine for me.

I narrowed it down between the Hoofer Extreme and the Ogio EXO. Went with the Hoofer so it would match my irons. Does the trick for me, but I don't require a lot out of my bag.

You might check Ebay. Somebody had a bunch of the 2005 Ogio EXOs on there last week for a little over $100 and free shipping. I almost bought one of those, but settled on the PING Hoofer Extreme. I think those EXOs retail for more than $175.

I have the 06 Bennington Quiet Organizer bag as well.. it has 9 pockets and a drink pocket that is insulated. I got mine in Silver. It is a very nice bag that keeps all of your clubs organized.
