There's probably no way to tell for sure. If they're so soft and you love them why does it matter? :drinks:

exactly... enjoy your retail irons why dont you.

Most do NOT have serial...so you got retails..

this sucks i bought these under the impression they were one of the first thousand sets which were miura

I doubt it... like I said most dont have serials... I always could be wrong, but you may never know for sure.

I know quite abit about the 300 series. Mots tour issued sets hv no serial numbers, or hav a 2mm TL2mm NS etc etching on them. The first run of Miura forged 300 that came out of Japan as a retail ru has NO serial numbers on the 5 iron. After that, whatever you got with a serial number is either fr Mexico or China, unless you get a set that has a Heads Made in Japan sticker on them (thought not 100% foolproof).

Chris,

What about the retail sets that had the sticker on the 5 iron reading "Heads made in Japan"

Were these not Miura forged also?

I have several sets of 300 as that's all I play and they are ALL Miura. One set is a retail set of 300s that are most definitely Miura forged, have a serial number and had the sticker. These were one of the first 500 sets made and the feel is incredible and obviously Miura.

My next set is a set of 300 Tours with a very special combination NS / Lehman sole grind done at the van. Each is identical and has a very distinctly square leading edge. This is the only set I have ever seen ground like this. There is no serial on the 5 iron and they too are extremely soft.

Finally, my gamers are a brand new set of Tour 300 Lehman Box Toes. Obviously, they have no serial number and are as soft as anything I have ever hit. The best part is, they really are a completely different forging than the other tour sets and/or the retails. The top line is slightly thicker, due to the square toe, as is the cavity. They may be stamped 300s but they are much different AND the absolute "Cadillacs" of irons.

Remember one thing...the shaft has a lot to do with feel as well. For instance, any shaft that's too stiff will take away from the feel.

my .04 cents

Well guys i do believe these to be miura forged but the other issue is the shaft change tfr 6.0 from a tt dg s400, but it wouldnt make a difference like this. this is head and shoulders above any other iron i have ever hit. Oh it is also hard to type with one hand drunk after the super bowl and not spill your beer and use punctuation.

Why are you even screwing around then...keep'em and play 'em if they are that good, "head and shoulders."
