Tommy Armour Morph Irons

Tommy Armour Morph Irons Features:

New Morph Irons from Tommy Armour are the first production irons to incorporate three unique head designs with three proprietary Rifle Flighted shaft technologies. In long irons (2,3,4,5), Morphs feature a two piece deep cavity design with the center of gravity moved back in the irons to help golfers hit higher, straighter shots with greater consistency. Long irons are matched with High Lanuch Rifle Shafts to assist in higher trajectories and tighter shot dispesion. Mid irons (6,7, and 8) feature a mid-cavity design and are matched with Mid Lanch Rifle Shaft for greater control and optimum spin on approach shots. In short irons (9,PW,SW), clubheads are blade like with emphasis on feel and finesse. All heads are made of 431 stainless steel with three proprietary Rifle Flighted shaft flex patterns developed for the company by Royal Precision. Morph irons are available in regular and stiff flexes in men's right hand and left hand models, feature Tommy Armour Crossline grips by Lamkin.

I tried these irons. Overall, they are a nice set, but certainly the transition between blade style to cavity back style really annoys me. I couldn't get pass it so I sold the iron after a few time on the range.

In term of feel, it has has alright feel too it. Nothing that would impress me though. If you're looking for a soft feel, these are not for you. The idea of transition from blade to cavity back is nice, but it never really work out for me.

Don't buy these irons if you think you can improve your game. Certainly a good starter set though, you get to have a taste of all 3 iron types: deep cavity, mid cavity, and blade. Once you're ready to move on to a better set you would get chance to pick your own reference on the next set and has deeper knowledge in this department.

I've had these irons for about a bit over a year. They are a decent starter set or for someone who doesn't play a lot. For everyone else the long irons really don't match up to the mid-irons and the blades in the set. There is too much offset in the 3 and 4 iron, to the point were it is distracting. But the saving grace is the Rifle Flighted shafts, they would cost about what I paid for the irons so it is like I got the heads for free already assembled.

The feel of the heads at impact is about as good as any decent cast iron would and isn't overly harsh off the heel or toe. Infact i rather enjoy the feel since it is easy to tell were you caught it on the head and well struck shots reward you with a nice smooth click.

Performance wise they are as long or longer than my old wilson pro-set's were, and those had graphite shafts so they are probally as long as a typical iron should be. With the help of the flighted shafts the trajectory is very well controlled and the spin seems fine for me. I tend to hit knock-down shot more than high ones were I play but they are easy to hit high also if you need to.

The grips on mine were some all black lamkin crosslines that I like just fine. Since I don't use a glove I used to like the winn wrapped grips on my old wilson's but the tackyness on these combined with the fact that cleaning them is less of a hassle makes my like them more.

Looks on these are decent, they aren't the best looking but mine are fairly shiny still with only a little bag chatter on them.

All in all I'd recomend them and i'd buy them again if there were lost or stolen unless i found a better deal on a set the out performed them.
