I just ordered a cleveland halo with DGSL x-100 and was wondering if anybody else is using one with steel or do the majority like graphite?

Simply a matter of preference. The halo is very long anyway for a hybrid and you will just add control with the steel shaft. You may pick up an additional 5 yards with graphite, but will also lose some control.

I really don't care for steel shafts in my metal woods, but the halo graph is terrible. By far the worst stock shaft I have ever seen. In comparing the steel shaft w/ the stock halo shaft, the steel is better, but your best bet is to order an aldila nv hybrid shaft in it already insted for the same price on golfsmith as the stock graph and steel. I'm sure u know this now since you've already bought it but, the halo is the BEST hybrid in golf.

Halo is a good hybrid, but surprised to hear its "the best" from a guy playing TM woods. Before you make that statement, try the TM Recue Dual TP with the Diamana h shaft. I know it cost $300, but it outperforms other hybrids by a wide margin IMHO.

I have the 2,3 and 4 halo's all with tipped Stiff Irod shafts, long solid good dispersion, great feel. I would like to try a halo with a Nippon NSpro950 steel, just for kicks. These kicked out 2 rescue tp Duals on feel alone!!!

I think going with the steel is the way to go (or an upgraded shaft). That's based on my swing of course, so draw your own conclusions. I had trouble with the stock graphite shaft in that I couldn't get a consistent shot shape (I know, I'd usually blame my swing, but this happened on days when everything else was going the way I intended). I was about to reshaft it when I tried a Miz CLK with DGS300. Problem solved. I made a trade and haven't looked back (much). I did really like the way the halo set up. I'm sure if I'd have reshafted it with steel or an upgraded graphite, all would have been well.

I prefer steel shafts in hybrids. I want to give it more of that "iron" feel to it. It is just preference. If you want more of a "wood" feel to it than I would get graphite.

What a great hybrid for the price. I think the stock steel shafts are an inch shorter than the graph's which appeals to me not being the tallest guy out there. The steel will perform well but will be a bit heavier. I love the Halo 19 deg with a steel shaft, feels more like the iron it's replacing rather than an extra wood.

If you've been using a 2i and are replacing it with the halo then you will be very very happy.

Another great mid/low priced hybrid out there is the G5 by Ping. Love it.

There are a lot of solid Hybrids on the market and I've hit them all.

 

I'd play any one of these given the right shaft: Halo, 3DX, Baffler, CLK, Heavenwood, Dual TP, MD

 

I do NOT like the Adams A2, Hogan CFT, G5 and the old Rescue Mid. The reason I don't like them is that when you ground the club, the toe flies open and I wasn't as consistent with these as the others.

 

That said, as much as I hate to admit it, the most expensive club of this bunch is the best in my opinion, the Dual TP. All things being equal however, all of the others run a very close 2nd.

There is definitely a wide consensus when it comes to hybrids. I have two HALOs and find that the stock shafts suit me just fine. I also have a friend with adila shafts on his and they work very well. The main difference I have seen is the difference in ball flight. The adila's give a lower ball flight while the stock Fujikara shafts give a higher flight without ballooning. Great for long green attempts when you want the ball to sit in the green.
