OS2 players

I am maybe looking to trade my G5's for OS2's. By doing this am I going to see a big change or should I not bother. My problem is the G5 is almost too much of a beginner iron for me, feels very bulky and appears too big at address. I have yet to hit a shot that I am proud of with these irons. What has been your experience with them (OS2's)??? Has anyone taken the OS2 over the G5, and if so, why???

Yeah, I've got the OS2's but haven't hit the G5's, so take this FWIW. I am a big fan of them, although I don't know if they are that big of an improvement over the original (which I also played). They are extremely easy to hit, and the feel is very good for a cast head. I'm not a worker of the ball, just prefer to hit a straight ball, so can't comment of workability, though I'd imagine the LT's would be the way to go for this. They definately like going straight, though, so presume workability may be fairly difficult. Felt ballflight was a little high with the stock steel so popped a set of TTDG's in there and now it's just about perfect. Used to play Nike Pro Combo's but these just had so much more forgiveness- could get away with not practising all week and still get away with some horrible shots on the course. Only problem I've had with them is the chrome coming off in the cavity, though it doesn't affect playability.

In all I think you'd be happy with them, but am not sure it would be worth the change. The OS2's are still quite big IMO and do have noticeable offset, but that just gives me more confidence over the ball. I suggest trying them out at the range and seeing which you hit best. Good luck

divots-

I got them at Golf Galaxy in the Galleria area in Houston. They half Word not alloweded fitted me and said that the black dots would fit me fine, I had a tee time at 10 am that very morning so I was kind of in a hurry. They said to come back if I had any problems. Is it a problem if you can't hit the things worth a crap??? It seems that the ball balloons off the face on more times than not, and I hate that. I also haven't been able to distance my clubs, due to the ballooning. It's really frustrating. I have demoed the Cobra 3100 and the MX-23, I actually liked both of them. Should I trade or give them more time???

You need to go back to GG and go thru a proper fitting. If you are experiencing balloning, then you may have a shaft that is not suited to your game. Getting the OS2 will not solve that problem.

Your lie may be ok, but the shaft may be soft or weak for your game...

Are you experiencing a hook or pull? Are you experiencing a push or slice?

Trust me on this, changing to the OS2 will do nothing to improve your game...

dude.........sorry to hear that the ping g5 wasn't working out for ya and going with the os2........shoulda done that in the first place..........

sorry to burst your bubbly bubbles but that value that you gave us an awesome value......yeah.....anybody would like to think their slightly used clubs is going to be worth that much.......but unfortunatly........pro shops need to make money also so i don't think you are going to get that much out of it........also, with so many gi irons out there, for a pro shop to pay that much for a used set would be definately desperate enough to have that set in their shop.......other gi set brand new would probably cost just as much as your slightly used set there buddy! plus, given a consumer on the lookout for a new set of irons, if i see this set, slightly used, going for 6 big ones and a brand new set going for 150 more.......???i dont know....its very questionable but i think i might want to cough up 150 and go with a new set up custom fitted to me.

also, i did a little research for ya.....i went onto valueguide.pga.com site and given that your iron set is stock steel shaft and everything standard.........the low end of the trade in value is about $323.12 and the high end of it is $342.85......so given the resale value chart.........the figure that you have listed in your post would be the resale value of what most pro shop would pay for.......'

also, if you would go onto callawaygolf.com and look for their trade in calculator, punch in your stats and you would get a trade value of $330.00 (again, given that everything is standard with stock steel shaft)

....take it for what it's worth man......really sorry to burst your bubbles.......on the other hand, i'm not a pro shop and i'm no pro at selling/trading clubs myself...............this is purely just my opinion. hey, and if you can find a proshop to give you that much for that set.........congrats to you and let me know! if not....best of luck to ya homeboi!

keep yo head high and search for that pin!

Are you sure your lie angles are correct on those irons? Ping G5's with all that offset favor a hook in my opinion, however my lie angles were off so I experienced a push until the angles were corrected. You answered it yourself you said they did a half a** job, Id have em them refit me. CS-Lite shaft are fairly weak shafts so this may also be the problem with the balloon jobs with these irons. G5 are as good or better than most game improvement irons out there.
