I recently purchased a Bennington cart bag for my father that has the 14 club divider. He initially liked it, but told me it became a pain in the butt everytime he took out more then one club. He said he's getting tirend of figuring which slot everything goes in and at the end of the day, the clubs are all over the place. I'm guessing this problem might not be too bad since if you're carrying the bag, you won't have the need to pull more then one club at a time but if you throw it in the cart and end up "cart path's only" it could be a pain.

I just recently picked up a Sun Mountain MPB. I haven't had the chance to get it out on the course yet, but it seems well made, and easy to pull clubs from. My one complaint about this bag is the external Putter Well is placed right where the main handle usually sits. They moved the handles to one side, so you either have to pick it up by the straps, or use two hands. I still don't think a bag like this will protect your irons, so it looks like I'll still use my iron covers.

:drinks:

I've seen Great Divider has some 14 way dividers, which looked O.K. I've also heard that Datrek has a few similar products, like their Crossover bag.

I think they're a little too bulky.

I picked up the sun mountain mpb at christmas this year. Love it. Absolutely great bag. As already mentioned the putter well is dead center and kind of limits the front pocket space as well. The handle on the side instead of the front is actually great for getting it in and out of the trunk though. After playing a 14 way bag I won't go back to the regular divided bags. I like everything to have its own place and I never have problems gettting clubs back in their spot.

I don't see why anyone would say this would cause additional shaft wear?? Can't sell me on that. Also this is probably the quitest bag I've carried. Very little rattle from the clubs. If anything it should keep them quiter than everything bunched up in a few pouches. As long as you don't mind a heavier bag then go for it.

Here is a little less expensive bag from the golfsmith. Bought it for my father in law for christmas. Not sure about it though but worth a look. Full 14 way divider. lynx

Here is the sun mountain

I walk in the golf course most of the time, and the 14-way full length divider bag is really a big help :drinks: . I sum up in the following:

  • 14-way, full lenght divider is really useful as long as you have a way to remember the right slot for each club. It's not that hard. I categorize all clubs as
    (1) woods/hybrid (driver, 3 wood, hybrid 2),
    (2) long irons (4-6)
    (3) mid irons (7-9)
    (4) wedges (pw,sw.lw)
    (5) putter
My bag is "Great Divider Journey Stand Bag" (as shown in picture), it also has a putter tube. I bring 13 clubs and the putter is always in the tube -- namely two slots are empty to mess around, if needed.

  • full length divider, rather than 14-way, is the key. Without the full lenght, clubs shafts will toggle/interlock each other when you try to pull clubs out.

  • I also use iron covers. It protects club faces and also help me to identify the right club (number is printed on the cover) very quickly and easily.
  • The only chance for me to need more than one clubs is for the short game, and most of the time, I need a wedge (or a short iron) and the putter. It's very easy to get both because the putter is in the tube.

I really want to get a staff bag (the one with bigger mouth and belly) with 14-way, full lenght divider but have not found one yet.

Hope it's hefpful

Thanks for this information! I have been looking at these since the end of the season. Love the idea of 14 individual slots for each club and the biggest selling point of all is the insulated water bottle pocket. I play in a lot of hot weather and it's so much easier to carry COLD water that stays that way. Plus it's only about 3lbs heavier than most other carry bags, and that is really not a significant increase in weight

Sun Mt. has a new bag coming out called the Flight. It will have 14 dividers and the weight of only 5 lbs. Looks like a nice bag for 2006. The MPB is nice but a little heavy for me. Check out the Sun Mt. Flight bag.
