Jeans on the Golf Course - Yay or Nay?

I think that a staff bag with your name embroidered on it is MUCH worse than jeans.

any course that allows jeans isnt a golf course,They are known
as goat trails. Jeans are low rent on a course period the end

I've played courses that allow jeans that were nicer than the course down the "trail" that had a strict dress code.

I would never wear jeans. I hate even going to the range with jeans. I wear nike dri-fit stuff and light weight pants/shorts.

I wear jean shorts for a number of reasons. But the number one reason is tick off you snobs. If you snobs have so much respect for the game wear Kilts.

You can wear jeans at Chambers Bay.

there is really no sense in fighting it. I don't wear jeans on the course, actually there is no denim at my club. Tradition is out the window in evertything this day in age. Come on we can't even say christmas vacation at our kids school. Mailman, Policman are obsolete. I do believe in a dress code especially at a private club and am glad we can't wear denim though.

...because unfortunately on many occasions, with tradition comes stereotypical prejudice. Must agree sometimes it goes overboard, though "back in the day" men wore khaki type dress pants as casual wear, so slacks on a golf course was not seen as dressing up as it is today.

When you have billionaire business moguls doing business in front of hundreds of millions of people while wearing jeans, I hardly say they are the pinnacle of trash as some like to think they are.

Times change, it was rare to see a pickup truck driven by anyone other than the grounds crew in a country club parking lot back in the 1960's or 70's or even 80's....now a 1 ton diesel lifted to the moon is a status symbol that costs more than a Cadillac and outnumbers many high end cars at some posh layouts.

Completely depends upon the course. At an mid to upscale public course, country club or resort I think they're out of place. But at a small, rural town muni, or a public track out in the middle of farmland I think they're acceptable.

I'm guessing at the family run 9-holer out in the sticks jeans are MORE appropriate than khakis.

Never have and never will. I'm an assistant pro at a high end public course, and it drives me crazy when people show up in jeans and have no clue, especially in the middle of the summer when it's 90+ out.

Do you let them on the course?

I live in a very small town, and am a member of a very small club, in a very rural area. If our members couldn't wear jeans, we would have no members. I played yesterday with a friend who was leaving after the round to call coyotes, so he was in full camo. But he plays quckly and by the rules, so I would rather play with him in camo than someone in Polo who slobbers his way around the course.

THIS, THIS, THIS. Judge your playing compaionions by how they conduct themselves on the course, not what they conduct themselves in.

No jeans allowed in any golf area of my club. Ok in grill room though.
