How come every post I'm interested in it seems like you are behind it? LMAO - I would like to hear a review on the Thump from someone that shares my love for the Diamana and PM702. I've never found a shaft other than the X100 that I like for a hybrid. Shortly you will have me replacing my Kwok Japan R7 Forged with Scratch & KBS Tour - AH CRAP

i have an idea pro with the thump in it. to me it feels like a lighter weight project x 7.0. super low spin. this shaft is nothing like blueboard, its basically a way to get a steel shaft profile into something that you can swing faster and have less vibrations.

I have heard it played like a WhiteBoard, would you say that is a good analysis?

i have never hit a whiteboard, but from what i have read the thump should have i must stouter butt than whiteboard. in my experience this thing hit the ball ridiculously straight, both from a standpoint of sidespin and apex. really just imagine a graphite version of project x.

Have you ever hit the Altus hybrid shaft in a hybrid? Thump is lower launch IMO, not really sure about spin #s, its a perfect shaft for someone that likes the feel of steel in a higher lofted head. I screwed around with one in a 20 degree Nickent hybrid and it launched like 2/3 iron instead of a hybrid.

I really don't know if you'll like it in a 17 degree hybrid, very nice shaft, probably not my first choice in hybrids but I honestly think Altus is the best hybrid shaft available in lower lofted hybrids.

The Thump is not for everyone. If you like hitting low trajectory bullets, and having a straight-hitting "placement" club, then Thump is the hybrid shaft for you. It is stout. It is lower launching and more stout than the Fuji 904hb, which is my favorite. You will find you can depend on the Thump 100% of the time, unless you are looking for something to launch high, soft, and pretty into greens.

A little update. I couldn't wait till tomorrow, so I blew on a new MultiCompound grip and headed to the range. I anxiously warmed up with my wedges and 7 iron and then headed for the hybrid. After one swing, I didn't think I was hitting a Mitsubishi shaft. The butt on this is definitely stiffer than the WhiteBoard. I didn't pay much attention to the trajectory because I was so taken aback by the feel of the shaft. I proceeded to hit a few more balls, and I knew it was a Mitsubishi shaft after that. While it does have a stiffer butt than any of the other Diamana shafts, it still has that same kick that they do through impact (at least to me). The shaft feels like a Project X in the butt section, but kicks like a Diamana.

On to trajectory. All the posts on here had me scared that I wouldn't hit it high enough, but this wasn't the case. The trajectory on the shaft (for me) was PERFECT! It was a nice mid to mid high trajectory that was flatter than any other hybrid shaft I have ever hit. This thing hits some low spinners. I was really impressed with it. When I cut the ball, there was no ballooning. Draws were long and landed pretty hot. I could easily hit it low if I needed to.

I know it was only a range session, but I have never felt this confident in a hybrid before. I can't wait to test it on the course. If I like it as much as I think I will continue to, then I will be putting this shaft in my Scratch hybrid when it shows up.

Interesting. I get the feeling it might be too much shaft for me, as I would prefer the Altus.

Oh well, who cares. Off to find one.

Just played with it today on the course. After 2 range sessions, and 1 round, I can say that this shaft is the real deal. I still don't know why everyone said it was so low launch. It is perfect for me. I don't think it is lower than the 904.HB either. Anybody need an 18° Sonartec GS Tour? LOL

I suppose it depends what you want to use your hybrid for...I don't want to hit my hybrid low about 95% of the time. I also don't want super low spin shots that won't hold greens. Glad you like it though, no doubt its definitely a nice shaft.

I have a Diamana Thump in my Hogan CFT Ti #2...it is the best hybrid shaft I have ever played. Pretty much point and shoot. I put an X straight in with no tipping and I can hit it high, low, cut, draw...you name it. Amazing feel and really long.

when you say it feels like a diamana but has a stiffer butt section than the white, do you think the butt feels like the blueboard then?

by feel you mean the way the red, white, blue, kai'li feels ... all bright and lively?

i am about to get a set of these and would like a better idea before i buy. no chance, unfortunately, to demo before i buy though.

got a set. lovely - pure joy. and i'm beginning to notice that it is slightly longer. but then again, i was playing on harder fairways, and an older head, so i can't confirm if it is the shaft or the environment. but it sure does feel a lot like the wb, if a little more stout and stiffer (since it is an iron, and also because the butt end isn't as soft as the wb).
