Ping,Ogio or Sun Mountain
Hey guys need some help, I am going to a local golfshow this weekend and I am looking for a new stand bag. I have been looking at the Ping hoofer extreme, some of the Ogio bags and the Sun Moutain MPB. My current bag is 10 years old, I want a bag that is easy to get the clubs in and out, I walk about half of the time so weight isn't a huge issue.

Any feedback would be great.

I've had an Ogio Probe carry bag for the last 2 years. Wear and tear are excellent, comfortable and excellent club mangement system.

I believe that Ogio make bags for other "big" companies and then they are branded as appropriate. Can anyone confirm?

Hope this helps. :drinks:

I just bought a Hoofer Extreme and I am very happy with it. I cannot speak on the durability yet since I have only had it on the course twice, but one time was walking and it was easy to pick up and put down. I like the divider system there are enough pockets to keep my driver, 3 wood, and putter seperate, while having only two other clubs per section.

I am also a little biased since I got my school colors and logo on my bag.

The second pic shows how the clubs sit in the bag.

Hope this helps you.

i have the ogio edge bag and in terms of design and compartments, i love the bag.......havn't taken it out to the course yet but it doesn't seem all that heavy. my first pick was the tm r7 stand bag (red/yellow/black) and it was really cool looking but i decided against it. i like the ogio bag so much that i'm thinking about getting another edge for my backup......just my .02!

I have used the Ogio Exo as well and was very happy with it. The club organization is excellent and it holds up very well. Will be using their new Edge bag this year. Looks great and has more options than I will ever need but oh well.

Also the Ping is a great bag but I personally can't stand the hoofer concept...causes clubs to bunch when seated and have always had trouble pulling and replacing clubs...therefore my switch to Ogio.

All Ping...tastefully done!

I'm in the same boat. My Ogio bag is about 6 years old now and it's really showing its age. Looking for a stand bag that will also work reasonably well in a cart. The MPB seemed to fit the bill but when I checked it out I didn't like the putter well extending through the front pockets or the handle. I like several Ogio bags--their design, the colors, but I can't get past the way they splatter "Ogio" all over it. Just a little too loud for my tastes, otherwise they're great. I'd get a Sun Mountain but I don't like the dividers or "rolltop" thing.

So now my first choice is a Mizuno Twister but I figure to look at several at the show. I'm really nitpicky when it comes to the bag but, like a computer monitor, I keep it longer than I keep anything else. Admittedly, I'll probably wait for a Ogio w/schling, logos and all. Almost bought a Trick SS last year with the original schling and was tempted by the novelty alone.

First post.

I believe what hksaikung said about Ogio making bags for Callaway is true, as the pro at Dicks told me the same.

I use an Ogio (Vision I think) and when a friend came down last week to play he and I checked out my local golf stores and he wound up picking up an Ogio Grom. What a great bag. Woode system (easy to get the clubs out and to put them back where they belong, zipperless ball pocket, nice harness, and ball holder thingy on the outside. I so wanted him to take my Vision and let me give him $50 for his new Grom.

Thanks to everyone for their input. Sounds like Ogio is the way to go, I just don't like the "Ogio" being so large on the outside. I will get get over it, function over style!

Off to the local golf show, I will let you know what type of deal I find.

I have the Ogio Grom, and I love it. Very good for walking or on a cart. In my opinion they are the best you can get. I had a Ping Hoofer Extreme, and was not that impressed. Go with the Ogio, you won't be disappointed.

I totally agree with the statement above, because I've had the same exact experience. I used a hoofer extreme for half the season last year and the bag was seriously disappointing me in terms of ease of use and quality. I switched to the Ogio Grom and havent looked back since!

I got a new Ogio Edge '06 model and could not be happier. I retired a Callaway Hawk Eye (made by Ogio) this year and was so impressed with the Ogio durability and features that I got the Edge. Totally awesome bag. Looks real good in the indigo, but they are kind of hard to find so I had to wait a few weeks for mine.

I also agree with the Ogio Grom. I'm a Ping man and wanted to like the Xtreme, but after 2 months I took it back for another Ogio. The Xtreme is lighter, but the clubs always get stuck, Cameron putter cover will not fit in the well, stand is horrible, and the zippers feel pretty cheap...other than that, it looks nice. :D

Go with the Ogio.

Did you happen to get that Otte's golf center in Bowling Green?? Just curious as I was in there the other day and saw a ton of those bags. So where in KY are you??
