Titleist Voodoo shaft flex

A little weak?
Just picked up a 909D2 and 909F2 yesterday both with the stock Voodoo stiff. The fairway wood feels amazing. The driver feels good too but the shaft seems to be a little whippy, not in the tip. Has anyone else found the flex to play a little weaker then what they expected? I used to play the 907D2 with a Grafalloy Comp NT stiff, I might pull that shaft and put it in the 909.

I just came back from the club. The new drivers and woods were in today. I hit the D3 driver with the Titleist Vodoo shaft. It did not play very stiff. The 3 wood was great. It seems like a combination of the 906F2 and 906F4. I will stick with the Bridgestone in the driver. But I think I am going to trade my 906F4 3 wood and the 585 hybrid in on the new stuff.

I would agree. I received my 909 D2 today with the Voodoo and it does seem to be a little softer than other stock Titleist shafts I have played. Honestly struggled a little with it with a hard swing, but with a smooth slower tempo swing it really performed well...great trajectory and the spin appeared to be fairly low as I did get some great roll out of the shots. Honestly I haven't really been super happy with a stock Titleist driver shaft since the Graffaloy Blue that came with my 905T.

I just went down to the local course where they were having a Titleist demo day and had the chance to try out the D2 and D3 9.5 with the Voodoo shaft, amongst other things. Hmmmm...I was not happy with that shaft at all. I was sending them all over the place! I mean some really rank hooks. I much preferred it with the Diamana Blue 65. We were using the first hole which is short par 4 of about 270y and I managed to put several on the green with Diamana shaft and several OB with Voodoo!

Playing 2-3 rounds over the next 3 days, after that I will decide on whether or not to reshaft. If I do it will be with a Grafalloy Comp NT stiff from my 907D2. I guess this is what I get for impulse buying.

I agree with the other post, the stiff voodoo is weak in flex. I swing about 103 and it is a whip. The D4 head feels very heavy on it to me. After 1st round with it i cut the grip and put two rings of lead tape on the butt and bottom of grip and then re-gripped it. this back weighted the shaft probably about 8 to 10 grams and it feels much more solid now. everything i swing now is a nice 5 yard power fade and the shaft has a more stable feel. before you pull this shaft i'd try some lead tape under the grip high and low. the feel of the head is now a little lighter and club feels more balanced to me. ill have to measure the swing weight next to see how much it may have changed.

I just picked up my 909 D3 and im pulling everything with the stiff voodoo. i had a taylormade tour burner before the 909 and it had the Rombax TP-75. The voodoo just seems so whippy. If i dont pull its because i am having to follow threw so high and then its a push draw. my ss is 108-112. Is it the shaft or what?

its is a 8.5 degree

Well went to the range today to give my D2 9.5 Voodoo another try and try it side by side with an X Flex. Didn't like the X as it felt too stiff, the trajectory was too low, and I am not a big fan of the power fade. Not sure why this has anything to do with it as I have played drivers as long as 47", but I choked down on my driver about 1.5" and was just striping the ball...whereas the two prior practice sessions I had with it taking my normal grip the shaft felt overly soft and was hitting it everywhere but straight. On top of that it was raining this morning and I was still getting some tremendous roll out it. So for now I will continue to work with it.

Just played two rounds with the 909D2 voodoo. First off I just want to say I feel this club was longer, better sounding and over all beeter then the 907D2. I completely agree with masonaw92, I was left, more left and even further left with this shaft. My SS is 110, I will be reshafting this head ASAP. I will use my 907D2 until this is done. What a disappointment from Aldila.

the voodoo is a great shaft that I've found caters to a smooth transitional swing...I threw up a quick review back in july http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?sh...l=review+voodoo

but before you ditch it try hitting the range at 70 - 80% I've found that this shaft unloads with little effort even in an x flex...

Just my two cents

my club fitter cpm the titleist voodoo shaft in the 909 d3 @ 241

Just to be sure was this Stiff that CPM about 241? Also you were saying you were going to pull and put in the new black UST. Curious how that worked out for you? I'm not very comfortable with this Stiff Titleist Voodoo and am also thinking about a replacement.

Do you by chance have launch monitor numbers before and after with the shaft change?

Thanks.

Yes it was a stiff titleist voodoo.. With the UST shaft I am cpm around 249 but definitley launches a little higher with much better flight. I have eliminated the left side of the fairway once again. Very very nice driver provided you put the right shaft in it. Unfortunatley i dont have before and after #'s but i do know its about 15-20 yds longer. Maybe even more. I did have to put 2 strips of tape under the thead to get the SW up to D3.. with the ust shaft sw had dropped to D1 but I also should let u know i shortened the shaft to play @ 44.5". Best driver i have ever owned

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
