Bumped into my Taylor Made Rep

I was in Edwin Watts and The Taylor Made Rep came in and we started chatting. I'm sure some one you have read this info on other post or just know but for those who don't here's what he told me for sure...

As of now-

1. Rac Black TP wedges aren't coming out in satin finish or anytime soon

2. The r7 460 is 1.5 closed and a TP version is likely later in the year or next season

3. The new steel r7 fairway woods won't be offered in TP (tho i swear i saw one on ebay... idk its what he said)

4. And he was nice enough when I asked to let me try out the r7 425 tp in all 3 shaft models... he had them in the back of his car (the 425 in 9.5 with the 65 rombax was nice!!!)

5. If you live in the New England area Pine Hills (Plymouth, MA) is holding Taylor Made DEMO Day May 19th with the tour van to build any custom needs

I noticed you play an R7 TP 8.5* w/SIX. How do you like it?

I'm thinking about getting the same combo in an "X" flex.

Why do club makers insist on building clubs 1.5* closed? I would never ever buy it. You'd have to put a 14 in the toe and a 2 in the heel to keep it from being a hook machine. Plus how can you have any confidence when it looks like it is pointed at the left woods at address?

I too am curious about the SIX. I keep hearing about what a great driver shaft it is, but at 4.5* torque and 54g, it seems too light and whippy. I would like to try it in an X and tipped like 5" I guess. :D But seriously, let's hear how it is.

I have an "x" in my R580xd and love the shaft! Not whippy at all and I swing in the 120's. The "x" is actually at 60 grams I believe.

I am switching to an R7 TP 8.5* because like you, I am getting annoyed about how my retail R580XD has that closed face. The R7 TP is square which is what i want.

Cool, thanks for the info. How much is your SIX tipped? I swing around 113, so if it works for you, I should be good.

When I had the SIX installed into the 580 I didn't have it tipped at all. Just a straight installation. Very happy with it!!!

Here is an R7 15* steel TP on eBay. I'd say they make them unless it is a fake. Maybe they are tour only?

The R7 steel TP does exist, however it is tour only. There are currently no plans to release the R7 460 TP according to TMaG's higher ups bc they havent even gotten a tour model out to their staff players yet. The R7 460 is aimed at the weekend warrior who needs the closed face to prevent from slicing it into the right woods, that is why they release it with 1.5* closed. The club is not designed for the avid golfer as it is higher launching higher spinning and a closed face.

I've heard much praise about the SIX in 'X" FLEX tipped 1 or 2inch but they also said you can also lose a lot shaft in the process of trying.

He also told me fujikura will be offering the rombax shaft with the same colors as the one used in the 425 tp. I forgot to ask if the graphics would be different.
