Interesting... Does Augusta National know about this?????

Does it matter if they do or not? Are they using any trademarks or are they calling it Augusta National in the title? If so, are they selling it?? If so, there's the problem. If not, then I don't see anything wrong with that. Is Martha Burke behind it??? :D

Anyone can download the course creator and create any course they want. I've "created" my home course on my PC although it needs a lot of work to be exact.

I can't see it from work, but I plan to check this out tonight when I get home. Sounds cool.

On the console versions (PS2, XBOX, Etc) they have the Southern Major Tourney and the European Major Tourney, etc to get out of paying for those trademarks during season play. Too bad they can't include Augusta in the console games. Wonder how much $$$ Augusta National wants in order for EA Sports to do that? I bet it is a boat load.

I don't think it is a money problem with having Augusta National on a video game. In my opinion this is somethign that will never happen because the National will not sell itself in this way. Why? Because they don't have to and that is good enough.

Yep. Wonder how much EA had to pony up to get Pebble Beach?

I remember PB having it's own game on Sega Genesis. I think it was called "Pebble Beach Golf Links". Fitting huh?

  • 3 years later...

I just did a search and it looks like I'm the only person to make a post about this a little over 3 years ago. I was reminded this weekend when watching the Masters and every time they would show the computer simulated view of the holes, and I just don't understand why EA Sports won't dish out the money to get the license for Augusta National. Surely Tiger could pull some strings and make it happen. I wouldn't mind spending an extra $10 or $20 for the game if it were included. Maybe I'm the minority but it still amazes me that it hasn't happened yet.

I've always thought Links was far superior to TW, unless they have made some huge improvements to it. And some of the courses, labor of love efforts created using the Arnold Palmer course designer, are absolutely stunning - including ANGC. Works of art, really. Played on the mod with greens set to fast, it's very tough!

I found this site http://www.coursedownloads.com/coursesourc...ews.asp?id=5277 and it has Augusta National available to download for Tiger Woods 2006 on PC. Has anyone tried it? I'm thinking about buying it for the computer and trying it out.

My friend tried it but said it didn't seem very real because he wasn't spitting all over the green.

I have an old N64 game that I imported from Japan that features the Masters and Augusta National. I believe it also trademarked appropriately ... I will have to dig it out one of these days.

The course is very accurate (for the time period) if I remember correctly.

Completely agree. The physics model in Links was incredible. I've tried to make courses with the designer, and it's really time consuming.

There are some Links sites out there that have practically limitless course downloads that users have made.
