X tour iron Custom grind to be a more players iron!!!

Narrowing and reducing the bounce angle! PIC!

This particular customer asked me to reduce the bounce angle and reduce the width of the sole to make this club become a player's iron for better shot making.

It reduce the swing weight 1-2 points in this type of modification.

Hope this pictures will help you guys making decision who happend had a though of doing this type of modification.

As you can see, I go more agressive toward the shorter iron. Basically I was trying to make less progessive bounce angle.

These grind is consider to be moderately agressive, Not quite a US open condition type course modification which IMO rarely need it.

Of course it will rust the parts that I ground, but definitely will have different feel and perfomance.

Joe, you have to admit you can do it all buddy, why anyone who has ever visited this board would ever hesitate for you to set their sticks to spec, should be banned LOL, great work as always, your one of the best, and those pics show a true clubmaker my friends :D

Honestly! If i have one set that i don't have to pay for it...I might go crazy and grind the back and top line completely to make it looks like a player's club and replace the weight lost in the cavity w/ 2 tears split cavity.

Joe..You are a master!!!....Your Handle should be changed to MasterJedi!!...btw- maybe callaway is reading this too and maybe by 2010 they will have gotten the hint that players don't like skidplates on the bottom of the irons or fatty toplines...but I doubt they ever will..

I suggest the customer to leave it raw. Basically they are only raw where i ground them only ( sole area ).

 

There are no point rechroming them if they aren't gonna effect the perfomance. Keeping it clean after play is good enough IMO.

Very nice work Joe. As others have mentioned....I really like the look of those clubs, except for the massive sole!! They are suppose to be "player's clubs". Good players don't need (nor WANT!) the kind of bounce Callaway put on them. I wonder what Phil Mickelson's soles look like??
