Reshafting with Black Gold

what flex.

Here's the deal. I am gonna reshaft my Rac CB's with the tt black gold's. THe question is whether or not i should move up ot x flex or not. My swing speed registered at an average of 86 mph with a 5 iron. I currently play s300's and i'm worried that x might be too stiff. Would i lose yardage going to x? If so, how much?

I just put a set in my J33 combo's and they palyed a little stiiffer to me than the S300's that came in them, my SS with a 5 iron is about 78 but I load it a lot (late release), so I took them out and soft stepped them,

After hitting about 100 balls with them softstepped, I think they are about right for me now, they feel like it is probably about a 5.5 on the PX scale, I could not see any noticeable difference in traj. but there was a noticeable difference in feel, they feel much more alive and not as boardy or dead as they did, I'm likeing the shafts now and will play them for the forseeable future at this flex,

is 85 mph your average ss or when you hit it really hard? if so i would rather choose stiff instead of x-stiff, 85 mph is the lowest ss to use x-stiff.

i don't remember if i was swinging hard at it or not. I remember that on that day, my swing was feeling kind of sluggish, meaning i could not seem to take a normal swing at it. I can say however that i carry my 5 iron 200-205 yards.

i think you could play with the X, but you may lose maybe 2-3 yards, but the biggest thing you have to worry about would be your ability to swing an X throughout the entire round, you dont want to get too tired of the stiffness around hole 14-15, so i would suggest the stiff, just swing smooth, like Ernie

im curious about these shafts in general. i checked out true tempers site and they were quietly vague in description of this shaft. anyone know anything about them???

Stick with the Stiff's. These shaft are amazing! Very smooth, much better than the PX's. The True Temper can was crazy busy at the nissan pulling project x's and installing black golds!
