Extending a putter length

using an inch long extension

So I have an old odyssey #8 that I would like to use for this season.(giving up on SC's for my wallet situation these days =( ) I like the feel, but it’s a bit too short for me. So, I’m thinking of putting an extension in the butt of the shaft, maybe an inch. Has anyone done this? Anything to be careful about the job? Is this going to ruin anything?

I have done this many times. I like a heavier feel so typically buy 33 or 34 in putter and add an extension. Make sure you know the butt diameter of your current shaft so you get the correct extension. This will change the swingweight. every inch = 6 SW's I believe, and possibly the lie angle (not 100% sure on that).
