Shortening my driver

I used to have a TM supersteel driver with steel shaft, 10.5*. Looking to take advantage of technology I bought a Cleveland 400 launcher ( one week before the 460 came out). I now have a KZG Gemini 460 with a fujikura tour platform shaft.

Since I switched from the TM supersteel I just don't feel comfortable with the driver in my hand. Doesn't feel natural. Does anyone know how long the TM supersteel used to be? Thinking of making my KZG 43.5". Does this sound like a good idea? My driver ss is around 110 mph.

Thanks for the supersteel info. I think 43.5 " is the way to go.

Just be careful when you cut down, with a graphite shaft its sometimes hard to get your swingweight back where you want it. 44" was a short I could go with my R5 to maintain a D2, until I slapped a bunch of lead tape on it, that is :D

I'm getting a trim, too. With the tour average 44.5 and Bubba hitting one shorter still, I can learn. :D

I've never used lead tape before. Don't know if I would be comfortable with it.

I have just had some swingspeed checks done with my 10.5 R5 Neutral Driver which had the OEM MAS2 5-65 Tip Stiff shaft at 45" fitted. I am getting on in age now with quite a slow but steady swing speed of 88 mph. The tests indicated much better dispersion which playing with the R5 at 44.5". I decided to switch shafts and now have an Accuflex Pro LD WC Reg fitted which is very light compared with the original and had this trimmmed at 44.5". My swingspeed is about the same but I am getting about 15/20 yds more distance. Difficult to know what has made the difference but thought chopping down the shaft would decrease everything. ;)

3puttbogey... Don't think I would be worrying too much at your level. My big prob has been maintaining distance as I am in my mid-70's (age - not scores!!!) Doesn't seem to figure with the irons, have replaced the long ones with hybrids and still accurate enough with the mids/shorts and putting thankfully has always been good, just the driving that I wanted to keep reasonable.
