Any news on Ping 50th Anniversary

2009 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the first PING product.

Its my hope as a loyal PING fan and purchaser over the years that they celebrate this with some special products in next years line.

I reckon that an Anser model will probably be produced but I would love to see a midsized cast cavity back iron that they are famous for also be produced for the anniversary.

What, if anything, would you like to see from them next year?? I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on this.

Wouldnt it be great if one of the Solheims read this and took note!!

I would love to see the TISI Tec back into production....and maybe a limited run of Eye 2's

+1 on the TISI tech although the masses may not "get it" that this was a great stick........

My first thought was along the same lines on the Eye2's but in reality they're not really gone and can still be readily ordered. The thing about Ping is that most of their really popular clubs can still be had if you want to order them.

A forged cavity back similar to the Eye 2 with less offset and heavier headweight.

An updated version of the Eye 2, call it the Eye 2 ++. I am sure it would have more modern lofts, 46* PW, more of a progressive offset with less offset in the short and mid irons, and maybe a slightly larger profile espeically in the long irons with a lower cog. The original sole grind on the wedges would probably be better than the Eye 2 + grind. Also come up with a new exotic material to make it from, Nickel again? would manganeze bronze work on irons? Oh yeah and no medallions in the cavity, please!

Retro L8 stand bag with insulated beverage pocket. Best lightweight carry bag ever

There you go, that's perfect! I would buy one and judging from the "comeback" small ultra lightweight carry bags are enjoying I think it would be a huge success. It would be perfect if they made one with the Tartan plaid pocket panels like the one I used to have......or make it out of the tweedy speaker grille cloth they used to use.

Limited edition of their first three iron sets that were forged (which would also be the only low offset iron they have ever produced). Of course have them forged by the messiah Miura and charge accordingly... Or maybe have only a few sets made for the tour by Miura and rest for public consumption to be done by Endo Thailand but still charge like they were done in Japan..... :jester:

While I am sure that would be a very sweet set of irons, Ping built thier reputation on casting clubs that are user friendly, and not necessarily "pretty". I am sure that if they do release a 50th anniversary edition it will be an item that follows their tradition of casting 17-4 stainless, with a cavity, some offset, and visual lines that are more functional than artsy. One or two celabration staff bags, not in orange and black on white, rather white and black Ping style with 50th embroidered all over it. With the "Pingman" as the big logo. They can add lots of other eye pleasing colors too. It must have Karsten embroidered on it too, and the original "eye" logo.

Man could I design the perfect one or two for them.

Heck a whole line of new 50th aniversary bags, clothes, and caps.

I think their line of clubs is fine.

Sure a special Anser putter would be welcome too!

I'm not sure about the clubs they'll put out....they'll likely be user-friendly as mentioned above. I'd prefer something of a showpiece rather than something to be gamed. I trust their judgment....

My request (if they make a line of 50th ann'y apparel) is that they make a hat that doesn't look like a friggin' jiffy pop bag. They have the worst looking hats available for a golfer. Go the route Titleist did and get Twins Enterprises or New Era to make a hat that looks decent. Stick to making golf clubs that are/have been great for years and put your name on a decent hat that someone else manufactures for you! Please PING, I'm begging here!!!
