Right heel coming up too early?

I have a tendency to get my right heel coming up too soon and too much on my downswing. What affect can this have on the swing? What problems can come from that? I was hitting the ball like crap today, and I really felt like my right leg was getting in the way. After I tried to feel like my right heel was staying on the ground longer, I started hitting the ball much better.

I don't see any proble with that unless your getting too quick with your shot. try slowing down on your backswing and let gravity accelerate you through. The right heel coming up too fast usually means your hips are way infront of your arms at impact. the only example I can think of is in an instructional video i saw where you want to be able to see your entire backside at impact. If your right heel is coming up, your left side will seem dominant as opposed to not shifting your hips fast enough which will lead to a rightl-side dominated swing. It's difficult to tell what the problem is without seeing it so I can't make a definate decision.

Yes. Exactally. Just try slowing down your swing. You may just be shifting too much on your weight shift or something. Your best bet is to see a professional because i can't see your swing.

One of the bigger errors I see is the lower body moving closer to the ball at impact. When you look at a good golfers swing or a Pro's from behind you can draw a striaght line from right knee to the ground at set-up...at impact that right knee has not crossed that line and moved closer to the ball.

 

Often when the right heel comes up faster you are moving into the ball and crossing that line. If you stay home on the right heel longer as you experimented with you will probably hit the ball better.

 

Again without video its hard to say, but its a real key in the golf swing. I call it my "butt line demo".

On a pro's swing you can draw a line from the butt to the ground, right knee to the ground and an angled line on the backs posture. Good golfers maintain all those the lines through impact.

The right foot working incorrectly is a SYMPTOM of either a spin out of the lower torso, overactive legs (drive) OR incorrect transition sequence........you'll rarely if ever "fix" the right foot being too active by focusing on the foot.......you have to focus on whats MAKING the right foot react so "actively" in order to "quiet" it......

Agree, its often the side effect of another problem and by itself won't fix the bigger issue.
