Pull carts?

Anyone use?
Today after walking 9 holes I decided that I would much rather walk than ever use a cart again. I played at the same pace and when I got to my ball I never had to worry about bringing the wrong club with me, so I also played better than usual (sometimes I just say screw it and try to hit the wrong club). I also saved a ton of money and had a better time. However, after walking up the up hill 9th and realizing it was a good 250 yards back to the first (9 hole course) I knew that walking anymore would wear on me.

So I plan on lightening my bag for the next time I walk 9, but I also decided to buy a pull cart for when I walk 18. This will allow me to bring everything (even a couple beers if the course permits, along with extra balls, Leatherman tool kit, first aid kit, rain suit, rain cover, extra water, etc.) without having to worry about getting tired.

Anyone else ever use a pull cart or am I wussing out?

I third the Speed Cart ... motion carried. I started using one last year and absolutely love it! I could not believe how tired I wasn't after playing on a hot summer day. You get so used to carrying the bag you don't realize how much extra energy that it wastes. This year I am looking to get a bag that fits the cart better as my stand bag is a bit awkward. Get the speed cart and you will never look back.

The Sun Mountain speed cart is the way to go. I would much rather walk than ride and this bad boy lets me do that and bring drinks with me (there's a cooler attachment). If it's a really hot day I can even use the umbrella holder to give myself some shade during the summer! Like you said, it's great to not worry about bringing the wrong club and waiting for your buddy to come back. My favorite is watching the guys take a cart when it's cart path only--hello?! Those are the days when you save so much more time because you don't have to worry about which club you've got in your hand. Plus, they're much better for socializing with the rest of the foursome rather than just the guy riding in the cart with you. 100% go with a push cart and if you can get a Sun Mountain (cheap on eBay).

Also look for Agogos push carts on EBay- I bought one last year, and it had been a breeze to use. I bought a fully loaded one (DV-158with a handbrake) and with large wheels for less than $70 brand spanking new. You can get a model without the brakes (L-600) for about $50.

It's worked superbly so far.

I always loop my bag. I never ride in a cart unless the course dictates that is mandatory. My fiance uses a pull/ push cart all the time since she has herniated disks in her back which make carrying impossible.

we have a growing contingent at our course that have invested in the electronic push carts. They are very quiet and are easy on the body. Its another option that is available if you have the resourses.

I'm sure there will come a day when i will not be able to carry a bag for 18 holes and then i will invest in a cart of some sort instead of ridding.

Kind of on what cpa said about the electric carts. Did anyone else read the article on Golf Digest about the resort course in Arizona that uses the Segways. Definitely looked like it had some great advantages to it!

I saw that article and have been to the course before they used Segways. It's very nice and using Segways, I believe, is a great idea. But for playing on a regular course, I'd never use a pull cart. I use a pencil bag (titleist 60) and can barely feel it. It has the room to hold a pullover, 2 pairs of gloves, balls, tees, sum glasses, and other accessories without looking bulky or heavy. The Clubs have a 2 way divider for woods and irons as well as a mesh waterbottle holder.. It is a great bag and a reccomendation for anyone who enjoys walkin 9 or 18.

go with the Sun Mountain, we live at 10,00 feet and the air can be a little thin, as well as having a lot of hills to deal with. We always walk and can generally keep pace or push the people in front of us that use the riding carts. Our course is cart path only and I think you walk just as much going back and forth and it takes longer. I also have a Izzo superlight which is 3.5 lbs and that a great bag when going down to the big city. Hey you even get some exercise when you walk!

I sometimes would rent a pull cart for my golf league matches. I definately felt like I had more energy to finish my match when using a pull cart. I finally broke down a few weeks ago and bought a cheap one from a local shop going out of business. One of my constraints on the pull cart is trunk space in my car. I had to make sure it would fit (along with my golf bag), before buying. ;)

Does anyone use Bag Boy EZ-Fold ? It looks very nice in picture.

That one's pretty good from what I've heard. Is this the one with the seat attachment? I think it's spring-loaded and attaches to one of the wheels (about the size of this small folding seats you carry) for when you have to wait--that's a pretty sweet little deal for that.

I used to use a carry bag...did so for over a dozen years....used an old bagboy pull cart (aluminum with solid tires for those dog days)...finally invested in a new BagBoy three wheel push cart and found it so much easier on this old body LOL...Im currently using the BagBoy "Avenger"...it has solid tires, so no more using the bicycle pump...has a better score card and cup holder than the "Express" model...and no problem getting in 27-36 holes even when its 100f here in Cali...Best investment I ever made IMO..

Sun Mountain Speed Cart ALL THE WAY!!

Unless it's a very hilly course.. then I carry.

I only play Cart-Golf when there's absolutely no other choice.

Bought the wife the new Sun Mountain E-Cart for Christmas. Works absolutely great. Maybe she'll get to use it sometime..

We actually have more walkers than riders at my home course, and probably 2/3 of the walkers use Speed Carts. Long may the trend continue.

Steve.
