looking for things to do & see from the locals

Hi all

I'll be in Phoenix for a week at the end of July & am looking for ideas for things to see & do.

I've played TPC Scottsdale & Renegade Desert Mountain.

We're staying at the Biltmore.

I'll be honest. Playing golf on the face of the sun is not alot of fun, at least for me.

Head north and play early. Courses farther north in the valley will be a couple degrees cooler,(meaning 110* vs 112*) think Wekopa, Troon, Grayhawk, Boulders etc. You could even head up towards Prescott and play Stoneridge. The good new is rates are cheap and its a dry heat :beach: .

I played Troon North this past July and it was in amazing shape! It was better than I had hoped.

Phoenix is July is HEAVEN...cheap golf....tons of open tee times...good conditions...whats a little heat? (ESPECIALLY YOU Gawfman123!!!!!...heat....there is NO substitute.....take the hydrant if ya WANNA stay cool!)

 

Sun up to Sun down...nearly 60 holes a day twice a week for under 30 bucks with lunch.....HEAVEN!

You forgot what it is like up here didn't you?? It was 47* and sunny, for the first time since december 17th it was sunny! And I lost a shoe on the 6th fairway from the muddyness. Honest to god, it sucked it right off my foot!

 

If I told you how good looking you are, would you let me come stay with you for a week?? (j/k)

My day?....FF lateral interviews till noon, budget reallocations, panic, budget meeting, flight in the helicopter to neighboring department for a "show and tell", drove home picked up personal car....practice putting on a peeeerfect green for two hours, chipped a little and I had to put a sweatervest on cuz it was a bit chilly when the sun dropped over the mountain, putted for another hour in dusky sunlight...drove home...BBQ a steak by the pool and the dogs played on the grass.......is it REALLY January 14th...pinch me

That, cheap golf and a Diamondbacks game would be my picks.

I cant wait for AZ summer golf, these winter rates are killing me! I want to get out and play the nicer tracks(started playing again last June after 6 years off) .

Playing in the summer here is actually cooler than playing the summer on the east coast. Seriously, without the humidity it is bearable. The two Biltmore courses aren't a bad place to start.

I play all year, don't think it gets too bad to play golf. prices are reasonable all year 'round now.
