I'd like to continue to play a relatively high draw, but a little flatter with a little more roll out upon landing. Launch monitor data indicates my spin is a little on the high side. I guess I need a shaft/head combo that will lower the spin but still allow me to turn the ball over with confidence. Nothing worse than a double cross.

Grafalloy Axis, VS Proto, GD YS-Q shaft are all decent options. Rombax X series might work as well.

Thanks. How about the Diamana Whiteboard or Fubuki for the 9015 head? Seems to be a popular low spin shaft with Golfwrxers.

Someone else will have to chime in as I have not had a chance to try either shaft in this head.

So is this damn head that good, or should I just play tipped S-flex shafts in my drivers from now on instead of untipped X's.......sheesh this thing feels hot!

So when these first hit the shop a while ago, I tried them and was very impressed. I kept wacking at it. I posted here every time I hit another driver and put it up against my R7 Limited. And none of the hot 'new' stuff that people were jumping on here challenged my R7 Limited... until this Adams came out.

I kept hitting it and the first thing was the shaft isn't cheap. But the feel was rivaling my R7 limited. This was shocking to me. The distance was fantastic. I kept hitting it, re-checking ballspeed. Then one of the instructors I know at the shop walks by and sees I've been hitting this thing a while and I ask him if he's tried it... he tries almost everything. He says 'nope'... and I can tell it's because it's Adams. He sees me hit 3 or so more and he says, 'let me give it a spin'.He hits about 5 in a row and I can see almost a comical look of disbelief on his face.

This club was nearly bought right there, but I couldn't justify it... not right now. I have to see the Speedline!!!

I really wish you'd have kept that post to yourself... :russian_roulette:

I am sorry about that Chickenpotpie, but rest assured it was not enough to make me replace the R7. The fact is it couldn't bump my R7 limited.. no way. BUT I just thought for an Adams this thing is the real deal. I mean I did get the A4 tech hybrid. I personally thought in that area it smoked the Burner hybrid. Put the gun down Chickenpotpie, it's going to be okay! (until the speedline comes out perhaps!)

What kind of SwingSpeed/Launch do you guys have? I hit this driver at the shop, felt OK. I'd like to get it on the monitor but they charge $25 to use it. I "sipped the coolaide" with that XTD Pro, it got annihilated by my QuadTP Speeder757.

My God man, are you serious, you won't pay $25 to get on a launch monitor!?!?

Maybe but I'd like to be able to hit everything I want to. I did it last year and hit my R510TP vs. a HiBore XL. $2.50 a swing pretty much. Sometimes it's just easier to buy one and take out on the course, it's not very often I can't sell something for a little more than I bought it for.

Question - these A4 drivers that you guys have, are they the same ones that you can pick up for RELATIVELY cheap over at the EVIL site? Just the plain A4 Tech, 9015D? No special tour head or anything like that?
There are three versions. The standard 9015d, the 9016 LDA and the 9015 LDA versions you can only get through Sellingers or a few other Long Drive shops. I personally have the 9016 LDA which is "tour only" for lack of a better term. They chose to make the 9015d the stock offering due to slightly higher spin numbers from what I have been told.

I just tried one out at the local Golfsmith on the Vector. I consistently had 4-5 mph higher balls speed with the Adams over the three other drivers I tried. R7 Limited w/Xcon 5.5, Titleist D Comp w/ Xcon5, and G10 w/stock shaft. Adams also had the best shape and feel of the bunch. The Titleist Comp was nice but could only approach the ball speeds of the Adams one out of every 5 swings. Im a smooth swinger and felt the stiff played pretty stout.

What is the main difference in the LDA models?

nothing, just the logo on the club head. I have one that looks like the retail head, but with the logo on the toe from Sellingers. (you can see it in the FS forum...and it has a Rombax X series in it...killer combo)

and to answer your original question, yes the a4 everyone raves about is jus the standaard retial version you can find in your golf shop or at that other site. no special mojo added, unless you upgrade the shaft.

You need to be sure to try the LDA version before buying it. We've had two good players who bought one and couldn't get it airborne. They were getting spin numbers down around 1300. The regular A4 is a low spin head but not crazy low. Adams moved the CG back for the "retail" version.

So the black and red 9015D head isn't the same as the latter retail A4? Or do you mean the 9016D? I've read lots where the 9015D is exactly the same build as the stock A4.

I was asked recently how the A4 compared to the Nike SQ Tour. I stated that after a few weeks that I liked them equally as well. Which is high praise indeed for the A4. The SQ Tour has been in my bag since it came out. I've demo'd many drivers (Ping Rapture, G10, Cobra L4V, Taylormade Burners/R7, Nike Sumo) but none were better than my SQ tour. Until the A4.

I've played four rounds since Wednesday and can unequivocally say, for me, in real course conditions that the A4/Fubuki combo is much better. I played the WigWam Red course today. I've played this course many times over the past two years. I know where all of my best drives have landed. Today I equalled or bettered my best ever drives over the past few years on several holes....all in one round. I was hitting approach shots from distances I had never seen. I felt like the priest in Caddyshack! I'm guessing that part of this is due to the forgiveness of the head but hit this thing in the sweet spot and it just goes and goes. Great trajectory and nice roll out. Seriously, this may not be the best driver for everyone. Some have already tried it and not liked it. But If you are considering a traditional shaped driver, square to open face, no alignment aid with a sweet sounding pop then give the A4/9015d a try.

I am an Adams man having played their iron sets for close to 10 years. Currently using the OS Techs. My swing speed is around 85-87 mph and I am wondering if the 9015 would be the right club for me. Right now hitting the TM Burner Draw. Can anyone help?

You might want to wait for the Adams Speedline so you can compare the 2.

The speedline should spin a little more and it's supposed to help increase your club head speed.

I doubt very much that the A4 (9015) would work well for you. Since you are used to a draw biased driver I think the ~2* open face of the A4 would really give you fits. This driver seems to favor higher swing speed players as it launches on the lower side with low spin. I don't know if you would benefit from that with an 87 MPH driver swing. You would probably be better suited with a different offering.

My 9015 LDA is a beast with a 757 in it. Though mine is an X

Hit many monster drives in the last half of 2008

To the poster asking for shaft advice .. go back to the 757 .. it is a heavier boardier shaft with quite a stiff tip compared the other one you have experimented with .. that will F with your timing

Have a 909Dcomp with a Fuji Zcom 95X in it and when the 9 feet of snow melts North of Toronto I will do an on course showdown in April

FEEL THE POWER!! I hit one yesterday that was so far off the heel that I nearly missed it. Rocked it 285 down the center of the fairway! The head is a beast lefty. Don't fight the urges to take it deep!

I have had mine in the bag for one month.

It is the best head and shaft combo I have ever owned, and I am a ho!

It is a beast and forgiving, longest and great feel.

Adams has the driver of the year IMO.

Fabulous driver...my search is over.

Instant 10 yards longer than anything else.

45.5 Code 6 Ozik stiff stock, 9.5* loft

SS is 100mph max with driver, averaging 97mph smooth tempo=260-265 yard drives!

Bernard Langer loves his, and I love mine!

Tell all your out of state friends about it, just not those in your regular foresome!

over the weekend i did a quick comparison of the 9015 - to my current driver the insight xtd a3 -

the 9015 had a 9.5 and my driver has a 8.5 - would one degree effect ball head speed?

the xtd a3 had slightly higher ball speed, but i really liked the looks of the 9015 and may end up getting it.

is the speedline more of a higher handicap club? is that the intended market? thx!
