SD is Southern Dunes a fantastic track in Maricopa which shouldnt be that bad of a drive for you biglefty. 7300+ yards one of the tougher rated courses here (at least that I have seen) 74.5 rtg. Incredible greens that roll true and fast about an 11-13 on the stimp.

South West of the drag strip

If memory serves me correct it was about 20 min from the I-10/202 to get to the course. If that is where we end up playing I would highly recomend the drive. Its about 50 min or so for me in no traffic and well worth the drive

 

As I get pricing quotes back I will update everyone and add a new poll to get majority approval for the course we will play, Hope you can join us either way

Based on these schedules I would not be able to crash this party...lol. My wife's vacation doesn't refresh until May, and I would not be able to go anywhere until the middle of May anyway(independent of whether my wife can get away or not)....

 

But I wll give some advice. Work out a deal with We ko Pa. Those big fairways will give the other guys an advanatge!!!.....:-) :rolleyes:

Too bad you cant make it, If you do plan a trip in May the golf is cheap and the courses are still in pretty good condition.

Or we could go to TPC Champions and work on the bunker game LOL

 

Edit: I have submitted group outing proposal requests today for Eagle Mountain, Longbow, TPC Champions Course, Poston Butte, Legacy, [email protected] South Mtn, and Grayhawk

I will be sending out more requests in the following days.

Proposals have started coming in today and have a couple good ones but as I expected some of the Scottsdale courses have priced them selves out of it. Judging by the survey responses and the quotes I have gotten back we are going to be in for a great day of golf.

 

Also how is everyones sense of humor? I got a couple gag gift Ideas for things like the worst score on a particular hole etc. Of course this would all be in good fun, but I dont want to offend anyone.

I got another quote back from Grayhawk at $180 a person :russian_roulette: We could book late and get a deal but tee time avail for all of us becomes an issue.

 

Legacy also came back with an ok offer of $91 Per person with lunch post round and all the tournament ammenities, I still would rather drive a little longer and play the Dunes.

 

I am still waiting on Poston Butte which by looking at their rates should be cheaper than Southern Dunes, but a much longer drive for those of us in the north valley.

Not sure what Longbow will come back with yet.

I am for Southern Dunes as well. Playing it all day on Saturday. I have some friends coming in from Ft Collins tomorrow, 36 at Longbow on Friday, 36 at SDunes Sat and 36 at Estrella Mountain ranch on Sunday. It is Golf Time!!!!!

Well I am definatley in for the Dunes too, I havent heard any nays on the dunes yet so I will go forward with that with a date of Sunday April 26th. Not to mention they have a price that appears to be do-able for almost all of the survey responses

 

I know that is still 3 months off but, that will give me time to try and get some swag for all you guys, from some of the local shops and maybe some wrx sponsors.

 

Again please let me know if you have anyone else that would want to play so I can keep an accurate headcount, same goes if your gonna bail on us.

 

Any suggestions on side contests besides, optional skins game Long Drive and CTP?

We are doin the deal at Estrella on Sunday... are the greens rolling smooth and fast.

 

IN the am yes...they usually water and roll them and in the morning they were rolling really good. Dormant/painted Bermuda....but the end of the day....VERY Grainy...everything moves to the SW...always keep that in mind...unbelievably slow against....pretty darn quick with

 

Overall...keep it in the fairway!....the dormant "rough" really sucks...very fluffy DEAD grass makes it tough to hit solid shots....First round (76) I hit 14 or 14 fairways first round, 14 GIR with 32 putts. Second round (75) 10/14 fairways, 10 GIR..32 putts....the fairways are the key to scoring there...straight forward course....no tricks...no gimmicks...a few tough up hill long holes (16...driver...solid 3 iron....solid 3 iron into the wind the whole way).....17 will ruin a good score if you miss the green....

 

It seems that nearly every hole has way more room left than right for sure....from the tee you cant see it but nearly every tee shot you want to be left....

 

Overall....for PHX...it is an upper midlevel golf course with great customer service to boot. HAVE fun!

Ok guys before I finalize and book Southern Dunes, I wanted to let everyone know that I got the proposal back from Poston and it is pretty much the same as Southern Dunes.

$70 lunch included.

My vote still goes to the Dunes, but I want to get the final tally from all of you. I have changed the Poll to reflect the course/pricing options Please vote over the next week then I will get it all set up. For us north valley guys Poston is close to 1:45 min drive or more for the NW side, the Dunes is about 50 min on a sunday morning.
