Ping G2

Have any of you hit this club? And what do you think of the stock shaft? Thank you in advance for any input you may have.

my friend has one in 8.5 w/ prolaunch. not sure if thats what your after. but it hits it ok, its long but not the best sound or feeling at impact, but still a solid driver. try it without stock trc100 or whatever it is. a 50ish dollar upgrade for a better shaft is well worth it.

it a forgiving good driver.. like said above, the feel and sound are spectacular.. but its easy to hit.

its especially good with the prolaunch shaft.

I have 1 in a 10* w/grafalloy prolaunch r shaft. Great distance off centre hits and amazing forgiveness off off-centre hits.

In my hands not the longest driver out there but hugely forgiving and fairway-splitting straigt. I would definently reccomend. Can't comment on the stock shafts as I tried one with an Aldila NV 65-S.

I have this driver in my bag. Been playing it since the beginning of last season.

For me, it is a sensational driver. It is long and very forgiving on mis-hits. This club has narrowed the golf course for me. I find myself in the fairway much more consistently than before.

Have the stock Adila NV regular shaft and have no complaints.

Overall, its a great club and I highly recommend it.

Try it and see how it feels and works for you.

I have been using one for about a year. No real complaints, I tend to hit it in the fairway pretty frequently which is always good.

I plan on changing shafts, the stock NV shaft tends to balloon on my from time to time.

A friend of mine switched to this driver last year. He's 56 and he's not a fast swinger. He does not have a consistent swing by any mean. After the switch, he's hit fairways more often. It's really noticeable. But it's a big switch, considering his previous driver was Callaway ERC II driver, which was only about 340cc.

just gota g5 with a V2 75X but before that i hada g2 8.5 with a prolaunch 65S.....the g2 is a great club...hard to work the ball but sooo easy to hit straight...the 8.5 launched it verryyy high...but the problem is the stock shafts are a bit too weak but an upgrade in the shaft=probably the best driver around[after the g5 of course!!!}

I had the G2 with the stock shaft. Great driver, long and forgiving. Longer than the Cleveland 460 I had before it. For me the Ping stock shaft works better than the Prolaunch. I recently traded in the G2 10 degree for a G5 10.5 degree with the same stock shaft (Club Ho). I'm hitting the G5 a bit higher with less spin than the G2 on the launch monitor and picked up a few yards the few times I've played with it this year. You can't go wrong with either, the G2 or G5 are both greats clubs. ;)

IMHO, the best combo for the G2 or G5 is the Aldila NV. What ever flex you get is relative to your swing speed. These two are great divers. My experience with PING drivers thus far has been exceptional. This driver is straight as an arrow. Everybody raves on the G2, for good reason, but for my cash I'd buy the G5.

I played the 10º G2 w/NV for about a year. It is a great driver, but it killed me into the wind...couldn't keep it down. Very solid, but a little too tingy for my taste. I switched to a 7.5º G5 and it was pretty solid as well, but the lower loft accentuated my fade. The G5 has a more muted sound than the G2 and the alignment moon is about half the size. Long story short, I am playing a 510 TP and couldn't be happier.

Thanks Punchy, but we are talking about PING. The G2/5 is a great driver. I think it is more suited for the 12-25 handicapper. Lots of forgiveness and the ball goes for days.
