here is the finished product and it cost me a total of $36 !!!!!!!!! Just picked them up tonight, hopefully going in the morning to hit them :-):yahoo:

Thought about it but I am not a fan of looking down at bright ferrules. And the grips were free so I couldn't pass that up. Total cost was only $36!

Putting together a set of irons and was in need of grips. Walked into the Dicks at Crocker Park near Cleveland Saturday (I read on here somewhere they were having a decent sale) and found a box of grips. I pulled out 7 Winn Lite Firms. The total was $16.80. I figure that saved me abut $40 since I can't find them anywhere online for less than about $8.50 each.

Nevermind on the whiteboard. Took the grip off and it had two, 4-inch cracks running down the butt of the club. Someone had put clear tape around one end of the shaft to try to stop the cracking. There were also like 5 wraps of grip tape running vertically up each side of the cracks (not wrapped on as usual)--seems like someone was trying to support the cracks. Also an extension shoved down the butt of the club to reinforce it from the inside. I'll post pics sometime if anyone is interested.

BUYER BEWARE!!! It's also a good practice to cut the grips off used shaft pulls when you get them. I'm amazed at the crap people try to cover up. But if I hadn't taken the grip off, I would have never known until the next grip change.

Be wary of any 42.5" 83s whiteboards on e-bay or the BST.

I was at Golfsmith the other day. Some guy was trading in clubs and I saw an old Scotty sticking in the pile. I quietly stood back and listened to Golfsmith make an offer. They told him 20 bucks for the Oil Can Newport, and he said fine. I pulled $40 out of my wallet and said would you prefer 40 cash, and we exchanged.

Needless to say Golfsmith asked me to leave, but I couldn't at least ask the guy if he would take it.

I cleaned it up a little, gave it a much needed baby oil rub and sold it for $140 on Craigslist in a day.
