Miura CB-301 & CB-201 Comparison Photos

Thanks to eprolinegolf for the hookup with these comparison pictures. The previous CB-301 post was good but I wanted to see how the 2 different irons (CB-201 & CB-301) actually compare in looks. These pictures honestly don't do the new CB-301's justice but you get the idea. One thing I'd like to say is that the CB-301 is shorter from heel to toe than the CB-201 is. Also you can tell the CB-301 has a thinner topline but after hitting this great iron it is really easy to hit and releases quite easily. A great iron overall and a totally different iron in comparison to the CB-201.

How does the offset compare between the two irons???

The 301's are the BEST looking new iron on the market today in my opinion! ;) ;)

Those soles look as wide as the old Big Berthas ;)

The soles really aren't that bad. That picture was taken very closely making it appear to be bigger than what it really is... Like I said it doesn't do it justice at all.

Believe me, the soles on the 201 are NOT wide. Great for firm turf conditions and if you strike the ball - not the slightly behind it in soft or wet conditions. They are "player's" soles.

 

I thought the 301s would be wider but actually look narrower - that scares me. if they are shorter heel to toe and narrower - man, I can't see how they'd be more forgiving than the 201.

 

It seems as if the 301s are slightly shorter - I think the forgiveness is in the offset and where the weight is placed. The 301s weight are a bit more towards the center than out on the toe making it easier to square.

 

Are the above 301 protos or the actual retail?

I share the exact same thoughts Swingman had. Hard to imagine shorter blade and narrower sole than 201!!

 

But they are a beauty, no doubt about that....

Those things I said about the top line and whatnot were just my opinion. Perhaps they are actually longer than the 201. My eyes need to be checked soon anyways. The one thing I know for sure is that these are a forgiving set of players irons and they turn over with ease. Yes they are the retail version not protos.

Miura says the 301 is easier to hit than the 201, and the 301 is not replacing the 201. I personally think the 201 is a much better looking head. Something about the really thick weighting around the cavity on the 301 just doesn't do it 4 me.

the 201's launched pretty low, almost like a blade. What about the 301's?????
